Pseudo turn based rendered in real time, or whatever you call stuff like baldurs gates comabt, where it's build upon DnD rules where tehres turn based combat, but you don't have to stop all teh time, you can just pause whenever you want to choose your next move.
As far as i know, it's the same in dragon age.
I'm not a big fan of the true turnbased like in pokemon, while i have fond memories of my old yellow GB game, the combat wasn't that thrilling, cause it just felt wrong to me.
