No kidding, anyone who answered no obviously didn't take the question literally, there is always a "right price"

It would depend on the selling price and the game. Some games are worth selling but yeah I believe everyone has the right price at which they would sell a game.

Well, I sold my PS2 version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for MGS, MGS2, MGS3, and $5, so I guess there's my answer. I didn't think it was that rare, but the person who I sold it to seemed to have major trouble finding it. Of course, now, one could just download a much superior version off of XBL or PSN...

Hm, I voted "no" in the poll, but then I realised that if I owned any of these "rare" games, I'd probably never play them - and if I wanted to, I could probably find them somewhere on the internet, anyway. And 31,000 dollars for Air Raid? Really?

Since the most valuable game I own is Alien vs Predator for the SNES and it's only worth $20-30 maybe not, though my copy of Shadow of the Colossus will probably end up going up in the next few years, maybe.

The depends on:

1) The game. Was it good? Do I have the tech to still play it?
2) The money. Make it worth my time, and I'd think about it.

The closest I have to a "rare" game is Neverhood... every copy I've seen is around 40-50$ still, despite coming out over 10 years ago.

If it was a game like that NES track-whatever-eBay-goldmine game, where I don't have the tech for it, I'm unlikely to try to get said tech, and it's worth booku bucks... then some other sod can have it in thier collection, show me the cash!

The point of having money is to use it for things you want.

So no, I see little point, unless it was a game I didn't care for at the time.

I just hope that the 360 becomes retro before I turn 40, and that somebody is willing to pay through the teeth for the old games. I also have a ton of old SNES games in my storage because my mom was a gamer, but I doubt any of them are worth anything major.
Loads of people have a 360; I doubt it'd really become that rare.

OT: I would definitely sell it; I have other games that might entertain me just as much.

Probably not, because for some reason most of my favorite games are on the DS. If it were more than 1,000, maybe, but I would never ever sell my copy of The World Ends With You.
Or Red Faction Guerrila.
Or Disgaea DS.
...or wario master of disguise.

I could sell any game I own for the right price, there's always something new to grab. If gaming as we know it was destroyed, that is when I would debate not selling and only at that point

It's only this week that I've been checking eBay to see how much copies of ICO are selling for these days... I don't play it any more and I'm absolutely penniless so it'd be a good option if I'll get a reasonable price for it.

Same goes for a few CDs I've got, early independent releases by bands who then went on to be huge: The Fratellis' debut EP, currently going for about £55 and the original pre-fame release of 'This Is The Last Time' by Keane, currently going for £35-40... they're likely to hit eBay in the next couple of weeks. There's another one (the original release of 'Mr Brightside' by The Killers) that'll go as soon as I can find out how much to expect for it.

So, yeah: sentimental value leads me to hoard a lot of stuff, but it's wise to rethink when you're at the point of having to sell it to be able to eat next week.

Back home I have a NES Zelda. Whenever I look at that golden cartridge it's all memories for me. I think I have to agree to the "ridiculous price" comment, for I think I would sell it for 1000?+ but normally I would never evar sell'em. They're my babies :(

I would, but mostly based on my opinion of it. I've not had anything big ever, but I did recently sell my black label FFVII and a SNES copy of FFIII. Can't bring myself to replay the former, and I never get around to playing the latter when given the option too, and I don't own a SNES for any other occasion.

My copy of Lufia 2 stays tucked away though...

Though if I had a $30,000 plus game, I'd probably sell it, unless it was like crack to play.

No matter how much I like a game, I always end up moving on to something else eventually. It seems senseless to play the same game until the end of time. I did that with Final Fantasy 7 when I was a kid. Ya, I'd sell.

I said no, but it would depend on the game. Lets say that a game from the halo series was suddenly incredibly rare (doubt it). I would not sell it, as I had way to much fun, and way to many memories playing it. Now if it were a game like Ninja Gaiden, I would sell it in a heartbeat.

The only rare games that I have that I think would rake in a lot of money are Trespasser and all the ps1 spyros. If i could get $30 or more for a game, I would sell it.

If i had any rare games, i probably wouldn't sell them. i'd pass them on to my kids and let them make the choice. they might be worth even more money by then, too
