I don't buy special editions, but art books and figurines are most appealing to me. Im not getting why soundtracks are so appealing to people, when you know someone will just upload it to youtube. I don't know if uploading that is legal, but it certainly isn't illegal to go and listen to it.

I've never bought a special edition before, but if I can get my hands on a LBP2 I will get it 100% guaranteed so I guess Plushie-goodness is what I need

Soundtracks are good as long as the music is worth it.
In-game items aren't bad, but make me feel guilty since other people don't have them... that's why I like developers who make the items available to all in a later patch or something.

It's a toss up between the soundtrack and in-game extras. Although, if I'm lucky I can find the VGM somewhere like Youtube and thus eliminating the need for the soundtrack, but not always. Extra stuff is occasionally good, though it's not always that great.

I really like in-game special items... But not the way its done nowadays. Where you are given a code to download the extra content. I hate that... so for the modern special editions of stuff, I'd have to say I prefer the special editions that contain art books.

I'll only purchase special editions from a games I know will be good, which doesn't happen very often. If so, a soundtrack would be super special awesome.

I love having the soundtrack included. To be honest, I reckon sountracks should be included standard with the game, but that's just me. I got the special edition of FFXIII, and I nearly had a brain haemorrhage in my fury when I found out that it was only a small selection of the songs in the game. What a con.

for me, massive guns that come free with the game, but then again i never did like Gears of war alas no gun for me, but i do like something a bit different, the night vision goggles for MW2 was a bit cheesy but hey they tried something different, it beats the normal boring put out "special editions" which have some art and music attached to the normal game, a developer which pushes good content which makes an edition special is what i like, like assassin's statues they were cool. so something extra that's not just art books and music

That would be soundtrack or art-book depending on the soundtrack :)
But usually I don't buy special editions of games. Films on the other hand...

It really depends on the game: if it has good music, I'll want the soundtrack; if it has an intriguing art style, I'll want the art book; in most case, I enjoy having extra in-game stuff (nothing to unbalance the game at all, just maybe an extra goodie or two, and maybe another area to explore). However, I rarely get excited about extras like models or figurines. That said, the Call of Duty Prestige editions come with some pretty awesome stuff which I would have absolutely no use for.

The sexy box of course.
Indeed, good Sir.

I like the look of that sexy box on my shelf.

Ingame items are nice too, like WoW's ingame pets.
I love my Murloc!

Mmmmh, in game stuff is cool. Specially if are over powered weapons or vehicles with over powered weapons. Some erogine would be nice too. Art books, nah. Most of the ones i saw looks a) nothing to do with the game result or b) exactly like the game result. Anyways they end up collecting dirt somewhere around my house, so definitely not for me. Models would be good specially if they are blond and with green... i mean over powered vehicles with op weapons.
But the thing that i would really love to see in a special edition would be company auctions.

Soundtrack is usually the reason for me, especially when they´re well done, but other items are cool as well. The Alan Wake Files and the artbook in Bioshock 2 were great.
