While many of the suggestions are good, I think that Max is not really a sidekick - Sam and Max are partners, equal in many things (Though, perhaps not in aggression?)

However, from the list given it was a difficult choice between the Companion Cube and Clank - in the end, Clank's acerbic wit, immense usefulness, and cool robotic abilities overcame the Companion Cube's unerring cuteness.

on top of this, hes got 3 more badass forms, and all of them can shoot metal out of parts of there body, I say that is the best partner you can have. or sidekick if you so choose to call him that.

Companion Cube. No risk of irritating dialogue, plus you can use it to prop up things, weigh down buttons, and help you reach high shelves. And if for some reason you want to get rid of it, you can drop it in an incinerator with no morality hit.

As much as I love the companion cube (and furthermore am not actually the huge a fan of the Ratchet and Clank games) I'd have to go with Clank. I've always wanted a robot friend!

I agree. It was almost the Companion Cube but in the end, it lost to Daxter.
That loveable little orange critter.
