Played it.
It wasn't that good. Not terrible, mind, but not good either. The combat got repetitive, the visual design was mediocre, there were QTEs everywhere and the story made very little sense.
Oddly enough, it was one of the few games where the gratuitous sexualization didn't annoy me. It was just so honestly blatant about it that one couldn't help but laugh rather then hate.

To answer the poll, yes.
I did enjoy it quite a lot.
The ridiculousness grows on you and the game itself is surprisingly solid.
And the challenge of it is excellent.
Even experienced players will get score screens telling them how shit they are.
I know I got stone statues like every other chapter on my first play-through.
It's hard on normal mode, and it's almost ridiculous on hard mode.
And then there's an even harder mode!

Rented it and played a bit but I didn't like it. I can get my S&M fix online much more easily. The gameplay wasn't bad but it wasn't what I'm into so, this one was lost on me.
The one thing I always loved about Devil May Cray and what I love about Bayonetta is the fact that I can play it with my brain running in Stand-by Mode. It's a wonderful game to relieve your stress with.
Something for when you just want to relax without playing FPS. And to be honest, it's hilarious! ^^

I played the demo once. It was offensive in more ways than one. Needless to say, I didn't purchase or play the full version.
traded it back in the day after i got it, it got 10 out of 10 in Edge magazine, i dont trust that magazine anymore
I don't know. I liked it, but I thought it was overrated. It was enjoyable with some fun and interesting mechanics, but the reviews and buzz around it made it seem like it was the greatest beat-em-up of all time. I'm glad I got it as a Birthday present as I wouldn't have bought it myself until it came down in price.uppitycracker said:

I don't think I'll ever play another game that I would so totally and utterly dislike as much as Bayonetta.
I havn't played it. I have it. I'm sitting here looking at it but I havn't played it. I blame "Mount and Blade" and by association Furburt.
