I don't use social networking sites. Technically speaking, there is nothing more antisocial than spending the evening sat at home on the computer. If it's ok with Facebook I'll stick to good, old fashioned, human contact thank you.
I'd prefer neither of them. I use facebook for the same reason I use social networking sites at all; it's the only way to long-distance contact any of my friends.
Social networking sites? What will they think of next? To me, social networking sites have about as much use as a pool of water to a hydrophobic cat. I stay on the internet to be away from the people I know, not to permanently be connected to them.
If google pulls the "we have privacy settings and intend to keep you as secure as possible" card, they probably will pass facebook. Only reason I still have my facebook is to talk to some of my friends since we are poor and hate phones anyway.
At this point it would just be too much trouble transfering over, especially as i have recently left school so have all my old school friends on facebook, the only way google is going to be able to do this easily is to have it so you can almost immediately transfer all your facebook contacts across to the google one or some sort of cross compatability, and we know thats not gonna happen.
I haven't voted yet because the Google social network hasn't been released yet. Based on it's track record though, it will fail before release. If it does make it this time though, I would be curious to try it out. I don't dislike facebook but I'm not crazy about it either. It would probably be the same with the Google network
I don't like social network sites, but I use facebook, as it's how all my friends talk to each other, so I'd end up missing everything if I didn't use it. I used to enjoy using it, but now if feels like a chore.
Facebook...because Google will take the most annoying part of Facebook (social gaming) and make it a part of Google. To that I say, "What the fuck, google?!"
Oh, please, I can barely handle talking to my friends in general, don't expect me to actually be in a persistant commune with all of them.
Still, if I had to choose, Google- because who fucks with Google? Even if you win, you lose, because Google is kinda an important company. And then you lose again, because its GOOGLE.
Both? I'm in a band, and I currently use both myspace and facebook, because they're both great for promoting shows and events. If google can cater to the bands a bit better, meaning have a facebook style approach with the freedom that myspace gives you (uploading songs, having a visible list of show dates), then I'll definitely be utilizing the google one, but I won't drop out of any of them so long as people use them both.
Google is a huge entity here folks, why would I give them the chance to make more money? The fact is, they're already overpowered. Remember when there were lots of search engines? You know there still are, right?
