I disagree with that. As much as a popular site Facebook is and is thus bound to have people creating false identities, in my experience those people are a minority. Most of the users there are people who simply seek to extend their social life from real life to an online position as well.
I meant not social, as in a lot of the crap posted is not socially acceptable...
Well, it probably is, nowadays, but I have an old-fashion view on what is socially acceptable.
Also, I'm not social. You're all pawns. Now bow down. I command you.

Social networking is basically my kryptonite, so I avoid it as much as I possibly can. So the answer is I trust neither.

Facebook. Most of it's othersitely influence can be ignored or blocked. I doubt Google will remain as avoidable.

Minus points if it is forced to use services like Gmail and Youtube. Minus more points if only accessible through Chrome.

I haven't seen Google's idea, so why would I pick them? It's too early to tell. Either way, I have Facebook, and I don't feel like signing up for any more sites.

Google. Zuckerburg is a giant douche who wants nothing more then to abuse and use your private info. Google is a far more benevolent company. We'll have to see if it sticks, until then I'll just keep using facebook.

None. Except for this site, I don't put up any personal info on the net. Though almost everything internet related can be found out about a person, if you have the knowhow and intent. But I'll try and keep the link between my real persona and my internet persona (I don't lie about things I post here though) as separated as possible.

Does Google even have a social networking site yet? Seems unfair to compare what already exists to what might be the gleam in an executive's eye.

I think Facebook has shown themselves to be irresponsible and completely uninterested in their customers -- just look at how they handle privacy settings. They seem to do whatever works best for them, customers be damned.

Google, so far, seems to be fairly balanced in this respect. They incorporate what people are looking for, try to make things work better for the customer, and sure they collect and use things like page visits and search results, but they are quite honest about it. Google is like an honest politician: they still do questionable things, but at least they are honest about it.
