It'd be cool to go to..I wouldn't stay for long though since I'd get radiation poisoning. And also, anyone in that radius would have radiation poisoning and I'd feel bad for them :( I'd still go just to see it and learn more.

I'll go there as soon as I can. I'll explore the ruins while listening to the Fallout 3 soundtrack.

Yes, as long as they leave it exactly how it is. I'm interested because it shows what happens to the world when humans stop being there and spoiling it.

i like to think im up on history and especally modern history...but what exactly happened here...i know there was an explosion and thats it....too many explosions now a days i cant keep up
It's more than that, it was obvious, like fire, how dangerous Nuclear energy could be, but it's the first taste of the consequences of human error while handling nuclear energy.
To me, it's more than explosions, but it will mean nothing if we don't learn from it.

If what I remember is correct the only reason the reactor blew is because someone over rode the fail safes. This could be complete nonsense however.

OT:
I would love to visit Pripyat, it's truly fascinating. Very dangerous though, the radiation levels are still very high in some areas of the city.

Maybe. No offense to Ukraine but the country is only in my "Wouldn't mind visiting it if I'm in the neighborhood but could easily be skipped" category of world destinations.

Well the radiation there will still be completely lethal so given the correct safety gear I would definately love to pay a visit there as I've always been fascinated by the tragedy, even before Modern Warfare came out.

2016, I plan on going. After the new cap. And i'll plan my budget accordingly.

It's on my bucket list though, about mid range.

When I do, I'm taking a Geiger counter an recording the results.

I'd love to go, but realistically I don't plan to spend that much money for a trip (even if I could afford it). It ain't cheap, even when you get there to do the tours.

If I ever do have a lengthy trip to Europe that I can afford, it would be interesting, especially if everything was the way it was. I find anything dealing with the USSR fascinating, so it would definatly be educational for me.

Anyway, it would be both fun to mess around there with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. type things and also the CoD4 mission :p
Too bad that pesky radiation seems to be everywhere X3
I have an S10 gas mask too, mate! :D (No AK or Ushanka though, dammit!)

I'd love to go, it'd be an interesting and haunting experience.
I have a slight feeling that I'm unlucky enough to somehow get some nasty exposure though.

No.
It's historically fascinating, sure, but I'm lazy and very indifferent to most kinds of landmarks.

No, I don't want to die of radiation sickness.

Was my answer cause I know me. I'd wonder off the beaten path and come back with advanced radiation sickness. Yeah... I dont exactly have the best luck in the world.

Besides, I can just go visit 3 mile island instead (since i live in PA) and get the same basic gist.
Except at 3 Mile Island, radiation levels didn't even exceed those found in NORMs (naturally occurring radioactive materials). But, you're right, a reactor is a reactor is a reactor. And 3 Mile Island wouldn't have you sprouting extra limbs or becoming a ghoul in the future.

Thats what I mean. All the fun, none of the danger.
And as an added bounus, it isn't in Eastern Europe.
