I'm a sucker for statuettes and puny artbooks... Can't help it, if it's a game I like, must go special.

I can't really answer this poll, since I make all my purchases through steam, and they don't have any boxes. DD FTW!

I alway buy the cheapest version. I've always been poor so I can't afford to spend additional money for stuff that doesn't directly affect the game. Same goes for movies and everything else. If the SE is cheaper than the original version then I'm all over it (it does happen, especially with DVDs).

by special edition, i assume you don't mean the "game of the year" addition. Because if you do, then i've bought Morrowind GOYE, but that doesn't count still, because its Cheaper than buying all expansion packs seperately.
Oh, and i know a friend who got special edition of Oblivion cheap. it featured a map of the land and a single gold coin featuring some emperor's face. It made me wonder how my characters hundreds of thousands of those single coins were considered to have weighed nothing.

speaking on certain editions, i got told a rumour that the Platinum edition of Kingdom Hearts (1) actually has taken some of the gameplay out as well as a few keyblades (such as the one-winged angel). i don't know if its actually true or not however, but it still annoyed me regardless how for beating Sephiroth i obtained nothing to prove to my friends.

I buy special editions if I can.Money is never a problem. But you usually have to buy them at the spot. And most games I buy are purchased online. So that really screws me over.

I only got the Fallout 3 SE for the Vault Boy bobblehead and the lunchbox it came in. they have both served me well.
And I thought that I was the only one that actually used the lunch box.I used it last summer to store my lunches for the summer job that I had then.I probably will use it again this summer for my summer job as well. And I used to use it in school.

It all depends on what it comes out with, like Modern Warfare 2's Prestiege Edition. Only reason why I got it was for the NVGs (also because I really wanted the game.).

I wanted to get the Collector's Ed. of Mass Effect 2 because I really love the series & for all the fun crap that came w/ it, but that sort of fell through.

I got the SE of Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, just for the novelty and collectibility of the metal case. I don't regret it. The extra goodies were a bit pants (except for the map, that was a nice touch) but that's not the point. It's my second favourite game of all time and if there was an SE of Deus Ex (my #1 favourite game) I'd nab that too.

I do if I'm really looking forward to a game. I have three presently: Halo 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect 2. I think they are well worth the extra $10 I spent on them.

I bought the bioshock 2 special edition.
I mean 30 euros extra for an artbook, an LP, a CD, and a set of posters is a good deal.

It depends on the game, the extra content of the special edition, and the difference in price between the special and normal editions.

Well, I didn't say I use it for lunch. I work as a graphic artist, and the lunchbox is just big enough for my collection of pens, pencils, erasers, pastels, triangles, protractor, sharpeners, x-acto knife and glue.

The Vault Boy sits on my desk and watches me work. Always watching... Judging... DON'T YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAAAAAT!!!
