Hmmmm, I personally think it will. Not because everyone loves 3D, that is definitely just a gimmick, but the fact is this is 3D without having to wear the crazy glasses (although I'll admit that those glasses aren't hard to come by with me, as I tend to steal them from the cinemas whenever I see a 3D film...), and since the rest of the package is just the normal DS and extras as standard Nintendo fare, it will definitely appeal to Nintendo fans. As a DS owner myself, and semi-regular player of the aforesaid handheld console, I am quite intrigued by the 3DS and it's 3D capabilities. Especially with the announcement a while back of the new 3D environment in the new Pokemon games...

same as the powerglove, wii and original DS. it will die due to limitations and desperate milking of one gimmick.

It is true that a rather unprecedented number of people expressed that they experienced enlightenment or at least a change of heart regarding 3D once they got their hands on the 3DS. Having said that, it is almost guaruanteed that not everyone will feel the same way about it. As such, for a lot of people, the 3DS will fail to fulfill their expectations and they will be disappointed.

Having said that, I still think the 3DS is going to be a massive success. But not beacuse of the 3D effect (although it might help, we don't know yet), but beacuse of the sheer versatility of the system. Don't like the 3D effect? That is ok, you can tone it down or completely turn it off using the slider. Don't like the control with the D-pad? That is fine, you can use the slider pad instead.

That, I think, is the system's greatest advantage, that there are so many ways one can enjoy using it. Regardless if you are core or casual or love 3D or not, it seems like there is always going to be something for you to enjoy. And if that turns out to be the case, I think the 3DS is going to resonate very well with the gaming audience at large.

Can't really say, mostly because graphics mean nothing to me. I like hearing that it will be powerful, because I like the power for programming the gameplay. So it sounds nice, but I'm lost on the 3D part.

Just a heads up... It has about the same graphics as the PSP, probably better.
Also, 3D is kind of a gimmick, but the games? Hell yes.
New Kid Icarus, new Saint's Row, new Professor Layton, new Final Fantasy, new Assassin's Creed, MGS, paper mario, Ocarina of time, star fox, street fighter, AND kingdom hearts. What the hell else do you want?

Graphically, it's already impressed me, but I am still a tiny bit skeptical about the no glasses 3d thing. And since that's the big selling point, I'm going to wait on that to decide.

I have yet to see any information or videos on the 3DS, so I will reserve any thoughts and opinions until I get my hands on one.[sub]Shut up, I had exams while E3 was going on.[/sub]

It looked interesting until they said the 3D only works if you hold it at a certain angle and far enough away from yourself...so that seems like it could become annoying.

Theres not an option for how I feel really, I would of ticked the box that said "I'll wait and see". It sounds good, its getting good attention, but the proof shall be in the pudding when it comes to me buying it or not

Yes. Not for the 3D, however.
I mean, what other system has Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario?
Replace Mario with something equally as good (I mean kinda unfair to name a character that can/will never be on a non Nintendo system) and you're on the PSP?

There's been a lot of hype surrounding the 3DS since developers and fans alike got to demo it at E3 last week. Warren Spector, developer of the upcoming game Epic Mickey, said it "changed my life." So what do you think? Will the 3DS fly or flop?

Gimmick. Come talk to me when any of the DS-era handhelds come even close to having games as good as Game Boy Advance.

you know that amazing "launch" line up? how much you want to bet half those games don't get released for 2-3 years?
nobody said thats a launch line up. the list your talking about is a list of all the games currently in development for it.

it is also worth noting that it can take 3d pictures and since it has the two cameras it is able to triangulate the distance you are from an object. I honestly cant think of any practical applications for that but I bet someone else will and it will blow minds

All I care about is that it's a ds with improved graphics, the 3D is secondary and most likely gonna feel gimmicky very quickly.
