It's a Nintendo handheld, so it's going to be insanely popular and generate more money than god.

That said, IT'S NOT REAL 3D! It's just a stupid, hyped-up, optical illusion. It WILL NOT help you judge distance better or give you a sense of depth, unlike what ignorant game reporters spout, and it's entirely unneeded.

I want my holographic Jaws advertisement like in Back to the Future: Part 2.

Can we get some more options on these polls? Something that goes beyond yes/know, black and white? While I feel the 3D gimmick is just a gimmick, I also feel that it will be a successful gimmick given how the general populous likes it right now. So, my vote is a yes/no hybrid. A, "nyes" if you will.

It's just another step in the great graphics race...it remains to be seen if this will improve game quality at all.

If it can turn off the 3D, yes. If not, a bit less then excited.

I think it'll just be a fad. Once the novelty wears off no one will care about it. Just look at the Wii.

Well, the hype is a bit much. I'm sure overall it will be a great system, and I'm sure that someday 3D will completely replace 2D, but is this the beginning of that replacement or a gimmick that will quickly fade out? That I cannot say right now. I haven't even seen it in action.

Does anything ever live up to the hype?
Hype is designed to get us interested not in what is but in the ideal of what is could potentially be. The hype has no flaws and covers everything perfectly. In real life this is usually not the case. Little imperfections sneak in and degrade the ideal hype item in real life. Unless something is absolutely perfectly made and executed then it cannot live up to thwe hype. As humans we are flawed and never really make anything perfect so usually it isn't perfect and the hype is over-hype. In short, no. The chances are staggeringly against it living up to the hype.

Yes. Not for the 3D, however.
I mean, what other system has Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario?
Replace Mario with something equally as good (I mean kinda unfair to name a character that can/will never be on a non Nintendo system) and you're on the PSP?
I'm kinda partial to Nintendo games myself. So I gretly look forward to the day I can take, say, Metal Gear Solid 3 out of my portable system, or shut it down as the case may be, and pop in or start up Metroid or the Legend of Zelda.

Why all the hate on 3D gaming? No one has truly played a 3D game yet and people are coming down on it already. This is not The Virtual Boy! Nintendo has learned from their mistakes and will use that knowledge to make the 3DS an even better handheld. This is the company that has dominated the handheld gaming market for good reason.

No, because the glasses are an optical illusion too. A real 3D image example would be a holographic projection: something you can view differently from different angles and can actually provide depth. Nintendo and Sony and all those damned movies that have come out just present an illusion. Their 3D isn't going to help gameplay, you are still going to have to train your eyes to judge 2D distances.

I stumbled upon some SFIV screens today. They were for the 3ds. Huh. Excited but I am keeping a small basket. Honestly though, PSP is also 3D. If the 3DS will be better, it will be cause of the library.

Where is the "yes a sucker is born every minute" vote option?

A poll needs at least 4 options a positive(yes),positive neutral(yes,but) and negative(no) and negative neutral(no, but) .

No. Really, it's just another thing trying to cash in on the 3D craze at the moment. I think it will make little to no difference, will probably be expensive as all hell, and just be another reason to slurp money from our pockets. It hasn't shown me any reason to drop me DS Lite and pick it up, similar to how the DSi didn't impress me enough to make me buy it.
