I'm going with "no" on this one. I only watched a few episodes of Buffy - can't say I was really into the whole Buffy/Angel thing the first time around. I'm probably being the cynic here, but I can't really see any other reason they'd chose to remake Buffy other than the fact that vampires are "cool" right now.

Though, in this day and age, it would be rather refreshing to see a show where the main character is someone who slays vampires for the most part, as opposed to marvelling at their pale skin and sparkliness.

I was never a big Buffy buff, so it didn't appeal.
However, if the fans want it, they can have it, just so long as I don't have to watch it.

...Unless she pulls a crossover and slays the HELL out of Edward Cullen and Bella.

As much as I like ol' man Whedon, Buffy's never been a show that I could get into. Does that make me an anti-Joss-ite? Maybe in some bizare circles.. But I'd say that I'm a fan of everything else Joss has done, which includes comic books (both online and material form), movies, tv shows, and online videos.

Have I given Buffy a fair enough chance? Maybe not, after all, I've only watched five episodes.. but I don't think you have to love everything someone does, in order to love the person.

I love Joss Whedon and I can smell a hint of "Design by commitee" here. I'll give it a chance.

I'm a Buffy fan, But Joss Wheadon chose to end Buffy when He did for a reason.

7 seasons was more than enough. And I shudder to think how the series will be raped without Wheadon.

However...Willow's a Goddess now....

Let us just say that the odds that this... travesty will be any good are verging on the astronomical, and it is really hard to understand the rational behind the entire chain of decisions that led to this film getting the green light (or not at all really, more on a moment). Probably because the rational as presented to us is crazy and completely misguided - the producer seems to think there's this entire audience eagerly awaiting the return of the character, but that is absurd! Fans of Buffy are fans of Whedon - those things sort of go hand in hand.

Making a new film entirely unrelated to the previous franchise that's been "modernized" (read: Way more like Twilight now) is just insulting to the people who already want to see a new Buffy movie, because that isn't what a new Buffy movie should be nor the reason they'd want to watch it. Doing that while the original creator is still alive and kicking? Well that takes insulting to a whole new level.

No, this isn't Hollywood giving fans of a franchise what they want (ha!), this is just a transparent attempt to cash in on the current Twilight craze while vampires are still "in", and the best response those of us who actually enjoy Buffy the Vampire Slayer can take is to ignore it forever, because it most assuredly isn't aimed at us. I will be astonished if this film is anything other than abysmal, and you couldn't pay me to go watch it in the theater when it comes out.

Absolutely. Joss Whedon did a fantastic job with the series and its story arcs, but even he was running out of steam by that 7th season. The destruction of Sunnydale - a city that was just as much of a main character as the characters themselves - was a clear indication that he felt he had gone as far as he could go in the TV medium. What are they going to do, magically rebuild the city? Set it in a totally different place? (I hear Cleveland has a nice Hellmouth *grins*) The characters are off exploring new areas in comic book form; and I doubt that those current story lines would be transferred to the screen particularly adeptly, even assuming that was a direction the producers are interested in going. And as other commenters have said, a reboot with new actors would be ridiculous when the show has only been off the air for 7 years. So the way I see it, the only reasons to make a new movie are 1) to cash in on the Buffy nostalgia, and/or 2) to cash in on the current glut of vampires in popular fiction. Both are terrible reasons.

I would be skeptical even if Joss were involved. Without him, there's not a chance that I want to see this.

I started watching the series a little while ago. But I found that the series hadn't aged very well. Maybe if you watched it as a kid it has good values but compared to whats airing now its not very good.

So I hope for a good reboot, If not. I got plenty stuff to watch anyway.

Not unless they get Christopher Walken for the main role.
If they get Walken to play a highschool girl/vampire slayer and they play it totally straight it would be awesome.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I was never a Buffy fan, and the fact that Joss Wheadon's been cut out of the project only serves to remind me why I'll never let any of these big entertainment businesses get their paws on any of my creations.

I'll see it. Hell, this is also an excellent excuse to pick up the first movie as well, despite my foreknowledge that it's not very good.

I was never a Buffy fan growing up even though I was squarely in the target demographic. I just didn't give a damn about vampires or live-action television.
