I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition. While the Best Buy near me wasn't doing a midnight launch, I will be picking it up in a couple hours when I get off of work.

I'm getting it as soon as I can. Which is probably Christmas. I still have to get DKC: Returns and Epic Yarn.

The game is designed by Warren Spector, who worked on Deus Ex and Thief amongst other things.

If it gets good reviews, it may be the only game that motivates me to buy a Wii. I'm not going to buy a Nintendo console based solely on 1st party games, you have to have 3rd party support. Maybe Nintendo will realize that someday...

I need more than that. I never played Deus Ex game in my life, though Human Revolution is on my list.

Thief was a masterful franchise for me but this still doesn't tell me why this game will be epic or deserve the attention/praise it's getting now.
The hype is mostly due to the fact that this has the potential to be a good 3rd party game that utilizes the Wii motion controls. You also have the usual good developer/popular character hype, but honestly I think people are looking to Epic Mickey to see whether or not a 3rd party developer can make something worthwhile out of the Wii.

That's what any level of hype I'm experiencing is based on, anyway.

Yes. I want to buy this game. I don't care what the reviews say, I still plan on buying this next month before my winter break from college.

My sister will probably get it for Christmas. I'm kind of hoping it sucks so I can laugh and laugh.

People still play games on their Wii? Mine gathers dust until I have to entertain someone who can't use a normal controller...

I want to since I like Warren Spector's work but I'm really just uninterested in the project...<.<

Even though I don't particularly like the Wii, as a combination gamer/animation major I think it'd be a crime if I didn't buy the (collector's edition of the) game.

Personally, Warren Spector's involvement with the game was all I needed to know. I guess the big thing is that Epic Mickey is supposed to follow the same design philosophy as Deus Ex. Deus Ex gave people freedom not binary choices. Outcomes were determined by how you finished objectives not necessarily on dialog choices. The game would give a basic objective (and sometimes a suggestion on how to finish it) and players would complete the objective any way they wanted. In ten years no other game has given this kind of experience and Epic Mickey could possibly fill that void.
