Ah man, it seems weird these sorta things, when they see good and evil as black and white.

It depends on what you would define as evil, I'd focus on personal gain rather than helping people like, ya know, who wouldnt, but I wouldnt harm people who hadnt done anthing wrong or because of a personal vendetta of some sort.

How can you have good and evil when everyone is the bad guy, just at different levels.

Apparently the team that conducted this survey have a really, really innaccurate view of the human race. A slight majority, 53%, have said they would be vigilante's. Unless you believe Batman is evil, this means a clear majority have chosen to be good guys. Besides, as Peter Molyneux pointed out, most Americans choose to be heroes in video games.

The survey team seem to have a preconception, and they seem to have created this survey to prove that preconception. Sigh.

Not evil, vigilante justice. Extremely brutal vigilante justice.
This. Because if our past generations of parenting figures have taught us anything, it's the proper way to fix bad behavior is with a good, healthy dose of abusive violence.

Id rather be evil at first then good.

Or atleast rob a bank or Fort knox. Every hero or villain needs a good sum of money in the beginning right?

Vigilante justice.
I can't see myself going any other way, so I'd try to create a team of super powered vigilantes, then go out there and make the world a better place, one beaten criminal at a time.

I GOTS ME SOME SUPERPOWERS! YEEEHAWWWW!
Yeah, pretty much. It's not like anyone would really be able to stop me, and as long as I'm not TOO much of a dick, it should work out just fine.

On a tangential note, the Escapist should probably rephrase the question: if I were a superhero, I'd probably be being, you know, heroic and all that. I believe that they're referring only to the super powers themselves.

I need to pick a power first to understand how It could be used, death touch has very few opportunities for doing good after all.

What power would I like in real life? Technopathy/Technomancy or whatever you'd call it, ability to naturally understand, communicate, and effect technology near me. Leading to a much easier path in programming and such. Friendly conversations with machines also make me the creepy quiet one that seems to be talking to themselves.

That ability in mind I'd likely work Chaotic Good. I'd side with good guys who would treat me nice, evil would demand to much of me, then I'd wait in the base programming AI's to play multiplayer games with me in between giving the heroes equip/base upgrades. Knowing they were all uptight and lawful I'd keep anything unscrupulous to myself but mostly that would be breaking into secure systems for conversations with computer networks, not actually damaging anything unless they were rude.

I'd have some fun with my powers but I wouldn't do anythin worthy of being called "evil".

Well, since the question says "superhero", I'm not sure if I really have a choice.

HA! Take that!

the question renders half the answers unusable, the -hero suffix indicates being good...

What do you mean "If"?
...I'm not Captain Awesome.
I mean, if I had superpowers, I would fight to protect the world, and make it a more awesome place.

Okay, it depends.
What superpower I had.
How easily I could get paid for my good duties.

If I had a superpower like, curing any illness, then I'd demand cash from the UN and go over to wherever they send me.
However, if it was the ability to make something explode simply by wanting it exploded.
Then, my morals might be a bit lax, but I'd be on the goodies side... Probably...

Alternatively, I very well might just chill out at a bar, and do some vigilante justice (which I voted for) and steal a living from the drug dealers I hunt.

Transituational thinking, it's impossible.
