Sounds like a perfectly reasonable experiment to me. Lets say you are shaking a robots hand for what ever reason. The Robot will need to know how many pounds per square inch it should use to make a firm handshake without causing any pain + a nice safety margin. This could be any interaction, from the encouraging pat on the back, to playing catch.

Why would anybody even say yes to this. It's like if you're in some kind of martial arts and your opponent has god mode on.

I would let it punch me as long as I got to choose where it would punch me and the injuries wouldn't last more than a few hours (bruises don't count).

I said yes, but only because I want to be able to put "trained robot to box" on a resume.

I feel left out because I'm too lazy to read the OP but I still don't like the Idea of a robot punching me

theirs a song line that was brought to mind when I read this "And you already know how it will end". Well at least when the robots enslave and murder us all I'll remember fondly the days before the horror when the free thinking robot realizes that humans are inferior, etc, etc.

No, and there are enough movie examples to back it up.
Yes, because what happens in movies happens in real life.

Well I would like to do it but only if I'm not gravely injured. After all, I can go to school and say "I got punched by a robot!" Just like Bill Paxton being killed by a Terminator, Alien and Predator.

Why do they need to do this? Can't a robot calculate base don statistics how much force a human body can take and dynamically calculate how much to use in any situation. Why do we need machine learning for this? Are we going to have a repository of "ouch" data for robots to use in the future?

This will DIVIDE robots into two categories: robots who live BY Asimov's Three Basic Laws, and robots who follow the ZEROeth Law.
