If you could, in fact, go back in time, and change one little thing from the past, not being able to return in any way to the future, your name being erased from history, and never getting the chance to see if what you did was indeed helpful to human kind in any way, Would you or would you not do it? If so, What would you change and what would you think the outcome would be?

I wouldn't, I think the world is the least fucked up it could possibly be.

I would go back to the 1800s and teach them everything we now know. Humanity would suddenly jump ahead 200 years. I can't think of anything else.

Y'know, Stalin killed 20 million russians (His own people), Don't you think that killing Hitler would not accomplish World Peace, Just avoid war for a few years?

Print out every Wikipedia article, travel to 1901, give the documents to President Roosevelt. I'd be taking a big risk in putting my trust in Teddy Roosevelt, but really, I'd be taking a big risk putting my trust in anyone from that time period. I can only hope that after being provided with what is essentially The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Teddy could be trusted to get the information to the right people and make the world a better place.

Dude, come on. Haven't you played Red Alert?
Loved it, actually. I just went with the most obvious answer to the question; I'm not that naive to think his death would fix everything, it would just cause different problems altogether.

I do wish we did have chronospheres and tesla tanks, though.

A-hem.

I'd rather go back and save JFK. Or maybe bring some knowledge back... i've thought about this kind of scenario in my spare time.

It'd take you forever to print it, so you could travel back in time, leave it in your desk, so your past self travels back in time to give it to Teddy, and, in theory, have a life afterwards.

If I could time travel i would go back in time and f**k it all up just to be a dick :D

And if we all got time traveling abilities, i would go back in time, make sure you all didn't get time traveling abilities, and then go be a prick.

Also I'd go back in time, and tell myself to work out constantly, study constantly, and to not spend their entire life eating junk food, watching anime, playing video games, and touching them self.

Though I don't regret it right now since I have time traveling abilities. *Resumes tea party with Hitler, Jesus, and Jack Sparrow*

I am not sure.
I may warn Alexander to be careful of what he drinks so he wouldn't get poinsoned and die like he did.

I'd save James Dean. What harm could that bring? You know, other than the U.S. losing the Cold War or Nazis.

I would go back in time with a team of experts and try to stop the medieval ages from happening. That way science could have progressed normally instead of being halted like it was.

I wouldn't unless I was feeling both spontaneous and suicidal. If so then I would make an anonymous terrorist threat to the WTC an hour or so before the planes hit. Hopefully I would save a few dozen lives that way.

Ever play Red Alert 2? A guy goes back in time to assassinate hitler, but only finds the US embroiled in a full scale war against the Soviet Union.

Either stop the burning of the library in Alexandria (or at least hide the scrolls somewhere safe) or prevent my friend Andy from dying- his family and wife need him back.

I don't think killing any terrible people from the past would help all that much. I'd hate for them to become martyrs.

There are so many flaws with that trope's first paragraph, chiefest of which is it takes time travel seriously. ;)

Besides, the OP says you can't come back or even see what happens, so to argue that a time paradox would ensue isn't really our concern at that point.

But anyway, saving JFK would definitely have interesting consequences. Good answer.

I would go back to yesterday and order a roast beef sandwich instead of the ham sandwich. Then I wouldn't still have this craving for a roast beef sandwich right now.
