I was playing Oblivion, sneaking up on an NPC, and I wasn't sure if he was friendly or not. I saved, stood up, and spoke to him, and he just turned around and said that. I used persuade to get him to like me, he wished me a fond farewell, then drew a dagger and tried to murder me. Scariest NPC ever.
