You were so quick to post that you forgot the text?

To Escapist moderators...I think you should install like a "must write at least 10 letters before posting" rule so this stuff doesnt happen...

It starts up with all of those lines on the screen and after it freezes like in the last picture. I cant move the mouse or use my keyboard.

Hmm...Does it ever get into windows? Or just stays black after the loading screen?

Nope it won't go into windows. It does the loading screen for windows but after the screen just flashes the pattern in the last picture.

With my limited knowledge I'll trow in a couple of options.

1)Your harddrive is kicking the bucket/broken/you got a really nasty virus
2)Your monitor/cable is broken
3)everything is fucked up!! KILL IT WITH FIRE NAOW!!! BEFORE THE GREMLINS GET LOOSE!!

Either way its quite strange...

Edit: Does the computer make any sound? Like a long beep or when it turns all black is the harddrive still working?

I'd say it's fucked.

Try putting your hard drive into another PC and back-up your stuff. Possibly your video card is stuffed. Take your PC apart, clear you any dust with a can of compressed air and make sure you clear dust from your stuff inside the PC too, then replace it all and make sure it's plugged in and screwed in firmly and correctly, then try again.

Failing that, try replacing some parts - video card first, then everything else - to try and work out what's causing the issue.

If you don't know how to do any of that, just take it to a PC repair place.

Well thanks for the advice everyone! I'm pretty sure its my video card, so I'll try a few different ones tomorrow.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'd be inclined to think yor monitor/cable firstly.

Be interested to know if it takes the exact same procedure with the screens as shown here, every time.

Have you tried borrowing a friend/family member's monitor to check? Failing that i'd probably reccommend pulling out your graphics card, booting up off onboard graphics and see how you go.

Out of interest, when you get all the lines etc on the screen, do they move or are they static?

The monitor is fine, and unfortunately I don't have onboard graphics. As for the lines they are static up to the last picure, where the screen flashes.

I had that once before, a long time ago. Can't remember what the solution was in the end though. That's probably not much help, sorry.

Haha, well I'm hoping there IS a soultion other than trashing my rig and building a new one.

Well it's almost certainly only one component so I highly doubt you'll have to trash the whole PC. It's probably software, graphics card, or the hard drive itself that are causing the problem. I'm gonna go with software for now though, and recommend you try the drive in another machine, as someone previously suggested, and if it doesn't work reinstalling windows (fun times).

Seems like a video card problem to me, too. If swapping cards doesn't fix it, try booting from a Linux live CD [https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD] and see if that fixes the problem.
