I can see where you're coming from, but in a progressive and multi-faith society that seperates church and state the argument that "it's against our religion, it cannot be" argument fails to hold water, especially when marriage as a legally binding entity ceased to be religious decades ago.

The real argument seems to me to be that the conservatives want to deny homosexual couples their civil rights because they're 'evil'.
Bolded the points I'm addressing.
This is an unfortunate phenomenon which my father coined "the speed limit rule"
Why do we have speed limits? It's not because we don't know how to drive, it's not because we don't know the safe speed. It's for that one idiot who'll slam 'round a corner at 110 and kill poor little Jimmy, Andrew and Tom's adopted son (see what I did there?)as he plays in the front yard.

Whilst we argue that we have a "progressive and multi-faith society" there still exists a large percentage of fundamentalist religious people within the voting public.
The politicians want to be voted back in, to do this they must work to appease all of the voting public.
That's why so many politicians these days are anti-smoking (because about half of the general public don't like it) but wont try to ban tobacco (because about half the general public like it).

That's why you have people like Britney Spears making a mockery of "the sanctity of marriage" yet they refuse to allow gays to marry to protect that.

1) Male.
2) Agree.
3) Agree on principal, but am still sort of neutral and leaning toward disagree with it at the present time based on current society. As long as homosexuality still carries the stigma, the children of gay parents have a heightened chance of being negatively impacted. I find it hard to approve of something that will have direct negative consequences on young children.

It is of course well known that straight couples have never produced gay children.

What?
My point is that gay couples may be more likely to negatively influence their children, so that's why I am leaning on the subject.
I'll do it.

What negative influence to children can a homosexual couple indoctrinate?

But I do see the kid getting made fun of due to having parents of the same sex. However, if he/she can manage to ignore their comments without resorting to violence, good for him/her.

Hey, just by giving birth, you are doing irrapable harm to your kids. And like the old saying goes, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. I'm of mixed race and there are people who believe I should be screwed up because I lack an clearly defined ethnic identity or whatever. But I have a solid home life, a university education, great friends, a wonderful boyfriend, a good paying job and an all round pretty awesome life. I will go on record to say, while it hasn't been perfect, I have had an easier time of it them most. I did suffer through an identity crisis when I was a teenager and OH MY GOD IT HAS TO BE BECAUSE I'M BIRACIAL BECAUSE THAT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS. You're worried gay couple shouldn't adopt children because they will get teased? Children of straight parents get teased mercilessly all the time, in fact much much more so then children of gay parents (see what I did there?). People tend to exagerate the negative impact things will have on children (just look at the video game debate). Seriously, never underestimate the power of a happy home life, and as long as gay parents provide that for their children things will turn out fine. Great even. Those who disagree with me are not stupid, necessarily, but just try seeing the issue more objectively.

You know what, I think I need to admit something here.

I'm sick of these questions... Anyone who asks you what your stance on gay marriage is, probably isn't asking because they want your opinion. More likely they want, nay expect you to agree with them. And that's on both sides of the issue. It would hardly be fair to state that this is the only issue where this kind of crap goes on, but that's just the way it works isn't it?

Here's my 110% honest opinion on this little "survey"...

[HEADING=2]I don't care...[/HEADING]

You wanna marry someone who's the same sex as you? Go for it! You want to thump a bible and scream about how those people are going to hell? It's a free country! But stop asking me what I think. I don't give a maggot-stuffed rat carcass about this debate and I'm not jumping on either bandwagon. I have more than enough problems of my own, I can't be bothered to give a shit about everyone else's. God knows y'all don't give a shit about mine.

I don't think I can take it here anymore. I'm sick of politics, social issues and other garbage drowning this site. If you want to talk about something less inflammatory I'll be in my bedroom, playing Pac-Man and scarfing Mallomars.

Uhhh I think that this was for a school project if I read the OP right..... No need to over react.
