It's got the same problem Wolfenstein and Quake 4 had ,(Yes i know Raven made them, not Id) the shooty bits are perfectly competent but nothing really enthralls you.

Also going by some comments in the thread, it just had bad tech problems across the board. I played the 360 version and there was texture pop in galore and it chugged like a ************ at some points.

It gets very boring very quickly. If you can pick it up cheap then it's worth a play but it won't keep you entertained for long.

I...liked the flavour text? Other than that it was a remarkably unremarkable borderlands/fallout mash-up with some seriously questionable logic at play.

I thought it was pretty unremarkable. It's a good time, but after it's over you'll go to bed and forget all about it.

Very average shooter with top notch animations
Yeah.
These pretty much sum up my entire opinion of the game. It's fun, but I'm so definitely glad that I got it for free during a buy 2, get one free deal.

A straight forward question: what are your thoughts on "Rage"?

I'm a nostalgic fan of id games, from the days of Doom and Wolfenstein, and I've been meaning to pick this up, as it's quite cheap and looks interesting. But I'd like to hear my fellow gamers' thoughts on it.
Its bad.

Think Borderlands meets Fallout...meets Quake...without anything that made any of those games good.

Boring weapons, repetitive combat, slow and confusing story. Its just really bad. Its more like a tech demo IMO. It shows some neat combat mechanics a few times...but you're left wondering why you should even bother to play it again.

The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen and the gun and ammo types are great. The driving/racing is good if a bit shallow. The places you go all feel different and you have some pretty good bosses. Now onto the bad stuff, the loading times are horrendous and the texture pop-in can be pretty bad. But the worst thing is the story, id made it a goal to add a new weapon pretty much each level. You get a huge gatling gun that makes enemies swiss cheese, and then the game ends. You never expect it to end, the people you work for never said anything about an ending but it ends, with the push of a button, literally you push a button and the game ends.

That is actually good news. I really do love Raven games, they always seem to me to be underrated gems. Singularity, Wolfenstein, Quake 4, even the Wolverine game... they're good games!
