Maybe. My grandfather and one of my aunts had it.

That is... interesting. I might have that then.

I'm definitely not going to pretend I'm an expert here but from the sounds of how fast your mood swings change between the two extremes it sounds like you might be bipolar man.

I'd see that psychologist if I was you. Though if I'm seeing this as worse than it really is then never mind, you know your own body so you can tell if there really is something wrong.
I've thought that for a while now, but without an official diagnosis it's worth nothing, and that's just not going to happen. I've enough familiarity of the mental health service around here to know they'll just mess me around. it's just a word. I already know how I feel. Still, it's getting worse, (like right now) and that isn't good. I guess I should try again.

I myself have been diagnosed with depression, and it's really just something you have to deal with. Stick away from liquor though, that's my only advice.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It happens to me most days, though sometimes the opposite happens. All you can really do from my experience is roll with the punches and either ignore your emotions (not healthy) or use whatever emotion you are currently feeling to do what is in your best interest.

If you're pissed off because you feel you're stupid or slow use that anger to motivate yourself to read something or go for a run etc.

I feel that way, only when I going through my day, I feel great. I'm excited and happy, and generally loving life. I'm fairly funny and I seem to make lots of people laugh. But then I get home and away from people, and sometimes for some reason I feel like everyone I know hates me and that everyone would be better off if I just killed myself. I'm guessing it's just another side effect of puberty.

My dad's still in hospital after surgery involving cancer and, if it stays as it has for the first week, college is going to ruin the next two years of my life.
And yet, I'm generally happy. I manage to stay out of depression patches, God knows how.

Could have something to do with listening to this...

I've posted that video like, four times in the past hour.
I think it has control of my brain.
If you post this one more time I think I'm gonna get hypnotized.

Goddamn, man the more I read your posts, the more I realize how alike we are in little ways...

But yeah, I get that too. I call it my "man period" as it happens every month.

They're bad days.

Starts off okay, but steadily works down into horrid depression in which I'm listening to sad piano music crying into my pillow.

My doctors say I'm depressive bipolar. I believe him for the first time in my life.

Is the Gary Jules version of Mad World one of the sad piano songs you go to? Because then we'd be even more alike.

What did your doctor recommend for that condition?

I think you certainly should. It sounds pretty damn serious.
I had a friend once who suffered from depression, but she just wanted to ignore it and not tell anyone, which just made things a lot worse.

It's good that you are seeking help, but even if you find the people nearby aren't helpful you shouldn't give up. Go out of town if you have to; it's certainly something you'll need to get help with. I have a lot of second hand experience with depression, so while I certainly wouldn't be arrogant enough to say I'd know better, I've seen it get pretty damn bad if left unchecked...

I get similar lapses in happiness as well. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's just one of those things that happens.

I get that too, I am relatively a happy person, but sometimes I just get sad for no reason. It goes away when I finally had some sleep though, I just blame teen hormones.

Fuck you teen hormones.

I don't deal with random depression, i deal with it all the time and let me tell you it's a struggle every day to look to the bright when everything is filled with sadness and dispare. I sometime wonder how is it i don't put a gun to my head and end this overpowering sadness i always feel.

It may be that something is wrong with your body, that would be the most logical explanation. When I say wrong, I mean an imbalance of sugar or hormones. I usually get really pissed off if I haven't eaten in a while, even if I don't feel hungry, but that's pretty small compared to what you're describing.

I suggest going to a doctor and asking them about it, see if they have any explanation as to why you feel this way randomly. If that comes up short, consult a psychiatrist about it because it's deeply rooted in your gooey brain.
