My brother gets a bit too focused on shooters, so that whenever he fires he has facial spasms.

He also has the most colourful rage I've ever heard.
Just today I've heard "Bollocksing titties!" and "You monkey-faced butlers of death!".

Ah combat tourettes. :D
OT - Not really, although a friend of mine got Skyrim, which is not his cup of tea at all normally. When I asked how he was enjoying it, he said it was fine "until I found my first furry."
It didn't make me rage at all, just made me laugh.

One of my friends loves griefing newbs; on RSV2, he kicks people who join the game for "shits and giggles", i.e. to piss them off.
If you're referring to Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, I will have to pay him a visit and kick him in the head. For 'shits and giggles'. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find active, joinable games on those servers?!

On the opposite note, I would quite like to know about this 'kick' button, because I was trying to have a 1v1 pistol fight with a friend, and these guys would join with their fancy assault rifles and ruin everything.

OT: I bought my brother Dead Island so we could play together, delaying my own playthrough by just over a month. Our conversations over party chat during these games go as follows:

Me: "Get in the car, I have quests."
Him: "No, I need to teach this guy a lesson."
"For God's sake, just leave him and let's go!"
"Help! He's teaching me a lesson!"
-I proceed to dramatically save him, occasionally by ramming the thug with the truck, and he stands there for a minute.-
"Alright. Can we go do these quests now?"
-At which point his character slowly rotates on the spot, and then stops. Then he sprints off in a random direction, loudly declaring 'TREASURE!'-
"...Bro...what's your lockpick level? I need help..."

And yesterday, when I criticised his lack of determination AND skill, he replies "Well, I got lockpick now because you can't be relied on to help."
And as for my frustration at his adamant refusal to allow me to continue the story?
"It's a zombie survival game. You're not supposed to do quests."
"Quests give us weapons and mods..."
"TREASURE gives us weapons."

Pretty much my mate being a Daiblo fanboy.

While I am getting Diablo 3 so we can co op but I will be getting Guild Wars 2 as well. He pretty much trying to get me to play Diablo 3 more than Guild Wars 2 while I clearly state I will try to balance my game time.

Yes in a way I'm a GW fanboy but come on! GW 2 look way more fun and cooler than the isometric view (yes I know you can change the angle) in Diablo 3 let alone Diablo 3 is under the heat lately because of using real money in the Auction House and there no offline mode. Even when I show him the awesome GW2 trailers (he's the graphic> Gameplay type of person) he is unconvince by it.

I buying Diablo 3 for his sake (yes it does look like a good game but I wouldn't buy it because I would play GW2 more) so we can co op in his favourite game series if he is a good friend than he would buy Guild War 2 so that we can co op in my favourite game series.

Oh also lately I got Supreme Commander (Gold edition) for Christmas which he also got that game as well (he love it) so he been trying to rush me to finish the campaign asap so we can play online but there are other games I want to play as well, not Supreme Commander all the time.

I have had a whole number of friends that have a tendency to get absolutely furious at other players in multiplayer games. It's really bad in local play because then physical violence can come into it. Or sometimes they have gotten so angry that they turned off the system so when they eventually cooled down we had to start the whole level over.

I feel like everyone must have at least one of these.
I'm afraid I am that friend, not so much anymore, but when I was younger, I would frequently get really pissed at multiplayer games with my friends and turn off my console

another funny incident was when COD4 was new out, me and my friends were doing some glitches in a private match, and my friend couldn't do one, and he was trying for hours and we were just laughing at him whilst we were doing the glitch, he shouted at us, swore at us and turned off his xbox

Seeing people not reloading when there's a lull in combat annoys me to no end.
Hahaha, I know exactly what you mean. A friend of mine does this, and he gets really pissed off when I point out "Dude, you've only got 5 bullets left, you should reload."
I know, I should just shut up and let him play how he wants but...JUST RELOAD GODDAMNIT! There's no reason not to!

Skipping cutscenes on the first play through. Why?

AND FINALLY WE HAVE THE MOST GUILTY PARTY! THE MOST VILE OF ALL THE VILLAINS! Yes, I'm talking about FRIEND WHO SKIPS/TALKS/DOESN'T READ CUTSCENES AND SPEECH IN GAMES WE'VE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE SO I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT'S GOING ON! That's also the reason I now play Online games in Single player first. And he wonders why I can't stand to watch him play anything.
How the hell can you even enjoy Mass Effect or Oblivion when you skip all the Background and STORY? DOES NOT COMPUTE!
These kids have it right. Sometimes, with the people I hang around, I feel like I'm the only one who grasps the idea of story and immersion in games. Watching someone run around the tutorial missions blasting stuff, running away while important NPCs relay important information, spazzing the camera everywhere so they miss all sorts of interesting goings-on, it's a nightmare to watch. But hey, who am I to judge on what they do? I play my way, they play theirs, as long as they enjoy it, more power to 'em.

Doesn't stop me from feeling bad that they won't experience the whole well-crafted atmosphere, but whatever.

EDIT: Also, just realised that Friday was my escapist 2 year anniversary. Hooray me.

I have a friend that I have never "properly" beaten at SSBB. I have played it a fair bit more than him. Wanna know why I haven't beaten him? One of two things always happen when he has 2-3 lives left.

1) He rage quits (in person, we're not playing online, one of us is at the others' house!)
2) He immediately jumps off the edge to end it faster cause he knows he's gonna lose.

Its extremely annoying! He'll get genuinely annoyed, claim the game itself is out to get him and favours me all the time, talk about why he shouldnt have just died/why that last attack should have hit me/etc. And as if all that isnt enough? When we're talking about games and happen to talk about SSBB, he'll claim in front of other people that its all I spend my time doing, in a condescending way! To which I'm immediately judged for not having a life, only ever playing SSBB! Simply not true... I play other games too...

He just doesn't know how to lose... at all. When I lose, I laugh and say "Well I suck =)" not take a hissy fit.

Explain to your friend that pretty much the entire TES universe was set in stone from the first couple of games and that the Fallout IP wasn't owned by Bethesda until recently.

Or, if you REALLY want to keep him busy for a while, have him research the Dragon Breaks and CHIM. I think he'll shut up about Fallout and industrialism.

If he doesn't shut up about industrialism, point out the fact that the Dwarves were highly advanced, and they all fuckin' died, so maybe everyone else is afraid to advance too much. Not the truth AT ALL but maybe he'll fall for it :p

Once I lent Shadow of the Colossus to a friend of mine and on the following day he says the game sucks because he's been riding around for ages and doesn't know what to do. I tell him 'Well, duh, just hold up your sword and follow the light like Dormin told you in the cutscene.' and he's like 'Huh, who's Dormin? I skipped the cutscene.' D:

I would slap that friend of yours for being so fucking stupid.

Anyway for me when somebody comes up with a "cool" game idea which just defiles the lore. Can you see why I would slap your friend?

I must say, the idea of a fantasy-world in actual development (industrialization, and all that it brings with it, magically enchanced nukes, anyone?) is very refreshing to me, but there is such a thing as time and place. Skyrim is neither. But he and I can dream, can't we?

Anyhamyway... In my case, it'd be a friend of mine who's in the perplexing habit of killing nearly anyone he meets in games like Skyrim and New Vegas. I keep asking why, when they're not posing any threat and doesn't provide much benefit for him when they're dead, beyond their equipment, and he always responds "Because I can." Needless to say, he got the child-killing mod fairly early on, he doesn't like loose threads. It's his game, of course, and he can play it however he wants, it's just that it baffles my goody-two-shoe brain why he'd forsake all the conveniences of live NPCs who like you for instant gratification and their moudly old socks (and perhaps one rusty assault rifle). Still, it's fun to watch.

And then, there is the sort of people who just skip all the cutscenes, never listen to NPC dialog or do anything to get their bearings, and then act like it's the game's fault when they're confused of what they're doing or what the game is about.
I've got some teenaged aquaintances/family relations that are like this, and I still find it rather cheeky to be angry with a game because it doesn't just spoonfeed you with information. The game doesn't think you are a massive tool, and that is a good thing.

They don't play the all of the same games that I play. Don't they know what's good for them? And that I have no time for the games they keep talking about?

[sub][sub][sub]This is a joke, people. No, I can't recall any at the moment that really grind my gears.[/sub][/sub][/sub]
I know you're joking, but all my friends badger me to play Modern Warfare.

Also, it's annoying to play with people who drop their controllers every twety seconds to twittter/text/facebook things.

my major complaint with friends and gaming is when they are significantly better than me..... and it happens. a lot. but hey thats my cross to bear.

Were all quite competitive guys and say for instance the BF3 battlelog has just intensified the competition. I don't want to but i always look at my k/d p/pm in comparison.

I really only have 1 friend I play online with and we meld pretty good. Although he has a terrible temper. He doesn't mind getting killed, but when really stupid things happen he'll throw his controller into the air "WOW HOW DID THAT HAPPEN."

My f(r)iend, the only person I game with 97% of the time, is the complete gaming antithesis of me.

Here's the list of everything he does that annoys me:
-skips cutscenes
-doesn't care about plot
-rage quits
-has gaming tourettes
-never reloads in shooters
-has short attention span and checks facebook/youtube/etc. while playing a game
-makes shitty excuses for why he sucks
-refuses to listen to advice on how to become better
-has shitty taste in games (he liked Too Human and disliked Shadow of the Colossus... -_-)
-eats all my food (okay, not really gaming related, but it is really annoying
-has no strategies other than running into combat
-will not take time to explore areas because he just wants to beat the game rather than experience it
-and finally (I think), he always attempts trolling people online, but always comes out of it looking like a moronic asshole.

I seriously don't know how he's my friend sometimes lol.

This one friend of mine switches his current game like every other day. One day he is a hardcore WoW player, the next he uninstalled it "because it's dumb" and starts playing modern warfare all day. Than 1 week later he decides modern warfare is boring and buys dota. 3 days of intense dota playing later, he's suddenly all over WoW again. So he starts a guild and whatnot and than after a week he suddenly completely stops again and goes back to modern warfare. and so on...
He does the same with character toons, servers, and accounts within the same game. On WoW he had like 17 "main" toons spread out over 12 servers and on warcraft 3 he made a new profile like every 6 hours.
Ofcourse he can do whatever he wants but it annoys me because
A) It makes it very hard to play together. Like you're trying to have a chat with a honeybee that keeps zipping from one flower to the other.
B) He denies a lot of it. Like when he "quits" a game and I ask him about it he's like "Huh? Oh yeah that old game, naww I barely ever played it." And I'm like "Dude... According to steam you played it for 5000 hours in the last two weeks." And than, 2 weeks later, he's playing it all day again even though he says he doesn't. -.-

Actually I have thought I would quite like to see TES enter a period equivalent to the Renaissance or the 15-1600s, and include guns. I think it would be really cool. I doubt they will do it as it would be too much of a departure, but I don't think it would necessarily be bad.
As much as it would be awesome to have assult rifles (especially in an arena) I am going to say NOOOO!!!!

It would unbalance gameplay to an almost rediculus level. Maybe you could bring the Dwemer back and have them be all Steampunky. Or maybe you could give the high elves fire crackers (would give them reason to be arrogent). But large scale industrialisation of Nirn.

Wouldn't work unless it was done over the corse of 2-3 elder crolls games.

OT:

My friends refuse to accept that a PC can be more powerful than a console. Even if I show them the specs. Other then that though many play COD CONSTANTLY!!

SO yeah steriotypical things yet they still do them
It wouldn't unbalance it because Bethesda would build the game with it in mind. A mod introducing guns into Skyrim would unbalance it.

Anyway I would like to see it happen simply for the sake of originality and creative exploration, and to give a sense that the world of TES is moving forward. And yeah, the Dwemer coming back and steampunkifying things would be great.

My friend Alex has this obsession with trying to link game series, or modernize them. Take Skyrim is a great, and recent, example. He spends two hours reading the wiki, and then decides that Fallout and Skyrim are set in the same universe because of an in game book that mentions gods bringing men and mer to Nirn from another planet. After hours of me telling him "It COULD be possible, but I'm very, very, very, very doubtful" He makes me out to be the bad guy. Claiming I was the one who kept arguing.

Another issue I have is that he always wants to modernize things. He said "Hey Ryan, wouldn't it be great is the next elder scrolls game was set in an industrial area!?". My response was "No Alex, I think that'd mess with it's fantasy setting too much. I feel that the fable games tryed this, and it worked to some extent, but I think they suffered in the long haul because of it. They seemed to rush into it too fast, not leaving room for much industrial styled progress, seeing as they'd crammed it all into fable 2".

He then tryed to convince me that Skyrim HAD to become modernized because of the fact that, in Skyrim, they had created windmills, lumber mills, grinding stones, etc. I attempted to explain to him that these things had probably been around for quite some time, and were just not showed in game, which he refused to accept. I also told him that his idea of the next Elder Scrolls having guns wouldn't work because ,aside from the game play issues I think it'd bring, it'd be *way* too far a leap for the world to suddenly have created guns, seeing as these games tend to take place 100-300 years apart each.

Sorry if way too much to read, I tend to get a bit carried away. Anyway, do any of your friends have similarly frustrating habits?
That first bit about Fallout and TES being set in the same universe is hilarious!

Actually I have thought I would quite like to see TES enter a period equivalent to the Renaissance or the 15-1600s, and include guns. I think it would be really cool. I doubt they will do it as it would be too much of a departure, but I don't think it would necessarily be bad.

If I am in the same room as my brother when he's playing any kind of strategy game or god game, like Total War or Civilisation, he gives a non-stop, moment-by-moment commentary on what he's doing.
How would TES going into the renaissance make ANY sense? it is it's own world it is NOT Earth, whos to say there even is a renaissance?Plus TES with guns makes it a fallout game , minus the apocalypse . JUST NO !
I think it's reasonable to expect a world that is more or less equivalent to medieval times in terms of technology, to progress to become a world more or less equivalent to Renaissance times... ?

And guns (especially the kind of early firearms I have in mind) would not turn TES into Fallout, what the hell gives you that idea? It would be TES except you could have a gun instead of a bow if you wanted (it would be more expensive to maintain and stock with ammo, and would be useless for stealth, but would be more powerful).
