Just trying to find something new to play.

I'm a huge command and conquer fan. Although, I didn't care for the new one that came out recently. Sins of a solar empire didn't do it for me. I loved the age of empire games and empire earth. Console wise, I loved the final fantasy games. Great fun.

Any recommendations?

On the 360 side I would suggest Lost Odyssey. It is your typical TBRPG with the circle thing like Legend of Dragoon or Shadow Hearts and it has a decent story. I personally loved the story but I can't argue it was cliched at points.

Fallout 3 was the best game ive ever played, and an RTS would probably be any AoE games too.

Other than Fallout 3 which will cause many to say that "hey thats not a RPG" I really enjoyed Lost Odyssey and would recommend it also. Theres also Mass Effect, Oblivion and Enchanted Arms that are all worth checking out. (I would recommend gameflying enchanted arms it may be too JRPG for some)

I can't speak for the PC side of things since I'm a console gamer. It'd be helpful if you told us what consoles you own, and also whether or not you're looking for a JRPG like Final Fantasy or a WRPG like Fallout/Oblivion.

EDIT: I meant whether or not you have any other consoles other than your 360, since RPGs (especially JRPGs) have been quite scarce this generation.

For the 360, definetly Fallout 3, it is certainly the most immersive game i have ever played

As for the rts on pc, if you're pc is up to scratch and you're a fan then i would recommend Dawn of War 2, or Empire Total War

If your pc is a little old however, i recomend Rome Total War, Warcraft 3, Dawn of War

JRPGs:

Lost Odyssey, if you loved Final Fantasy, this is the game for you. It's a very similar style of game.

Tales of Vesperia, not quite Final Fantasy, but it's got a good story and some awesomely fun battles.

WRPGs:

Fallout 3, pretty much a must own game. It's not without it's flaws but if you don't play it at least once, you are lessened as a gamer.

Mass Effect, one of the best told stories in gaming. It's also the only RPG that really has "Roleplaying" in it.

If you can find a copy, I'd say Joint Task Force for the PC. I saw it on cinematech one night and figured I'd try it. It turned into one of my favorites, but like I said, good luck finding a copy.

Fallout 3 /Mass Effect. Bioshock if that counts.

If you loved FF, 360 is getting some JRPGs that might fit the bill (Star Ocean IV).

RTS wise, and I've been playing them since I was 6 with the original Command and Conquer as well as War 2...

I'd recommend Supreme Commander if you like skirmish-mode in C+C/AoE games.
I'd recommend DoW II if you're looking for a micro-management based game with a really fun campaign.
Starcraft if you haven't played it and don't mind old cartoony graphics (I love it personally)
Homeworld was very different.
Dark Reign 2 was fun for me...

But SC/War3 if you want a standard RTS with good campaigns and very good multiplayer
DoW II if you want something different with a RPG-esque campaign
SupCom or TA if you want huge, epic battles in the future.

The good console RPGs:
Fallout 3
Oblivion(Fallout 3 but older and more medieval and from a series I like more)
Mass Effect
edit: loved FF? hm...going to have to say...Lost Odyssey or something...not enough JRPGs are out this time...only other one I know is Star Ocean. I forgot the subtitle.

The good PC RTSs:
DoW: Soulstorm. Don't like Dawn of War 2.
StarCraft
WarCraft 3
That's pretty much it.

RPGs for the Console:
Oblvion
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
(tentitivly) Fable 2; though i suggest you rent it before you buy it.

RTSs for the PC:
Age of Empires 2, and definitely NOT AoE3
Emperor: Battle for Dune (pretty old, and only works on XP with a special patch and not at all on Vista)
Red Alert 2
Warcraft 3
Daw of War and all expansions thereof
and i'd reccomend Supreme Commander, but you don't like SINS, so probably not. matter of interest did you try the 7 Deadly Sins mod for it? it adds a HUGE amount of stuff to the game, and makes it better

A Good RPG for the 360 I would say Infinate Undiscovery rather Cliche'd in some voice acting but hell its easy to pick up and play.

Oh and FUN.

For JRPGs: Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant (if you can get over the texture-popping issues, it's an absolutely fantastic game).

Western RPGs: Mass Effect, Fallout 3.

PC RTSes: StarCraft of course, and I've been hearing good things about Dawn of War II.

I can HIGHLY recommend Company of Heroes for a great PC RTS. I'm not the world's biggest strategy fan but I always have a blast with this game.

COP is awesome, and you should try the Opposing Fronts expansion too. beside that, War In Conflict is great too.
