Recommend an anime

I've been looking for an anime to watch but I'm not sure of what to look into. I was fond of Mobile Suit Gundam and Hellsing so anything of that ilk would be very welcome

it has a basic encyclopedia which gives a basic rundown of the show and can match animes based on themes, if nothing else you can check out what the anime everyone recommends are about. Yeah its an old site but I've only just rediscovered it.

I'm always happy to recommend some anime, but can I ask why you didn't just search it if you knew it had been done before?
People generally recommend the same ones every time.

Anyway, Evangelion is a great watch if you haven't already seen it.
Pandora Hearts is just.........brilliance - I love it.
The anime of Valkyria Chronicles is worth a watch.
Oh and I've heard good things about Durarara.

Full metal alchemist, Death note, Cowboy bebop and Claymore are all fantastic animes.
FMA in particular is the best show ever; I love all the characters...

robots and the like? well, the two anime that come ta mind are Overman King Gainer (directed by some guy who also directed a few seasons of Mobile Suit, I think) and Code Geass (kinda like death note, but with robots).

No-one has mentioned code geass? Damnit man, if you haven't already, watch it!

EDIT: Ninjad.... But seriously, even if you don't like the art style, code geass is one of the best animes out there.

Outlaw Star. It has ship to ship combat (space,that is!),crazy gunplay and an intriguing plot,with characters to match.

I'd rather I got fresh answers, its also less time consuming than trawling the forum. Fair question though.

I have looked at both Hellsings, Ultimate is really good
