Well, I'd recommend Transmetropolitan, but since you know that one already...

Alan Moore's "Top 10". Genius.

Also, Grant Morrison's "Arkham Asylum" and the Batman limited series "No Man's Land".

I've been reading comics allot more lately but there is just way too many series to choose from and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good comics I should try and get a hold of.
lately I've been reading Transmetropolitan, the Invisible's , walking dead and the losers. My preferences are varied I just try and stay away from the cookie cutter pg rated superhero comics.
The Darkness, published by Top Cow. Never played the game based on it, never will, read the comic first a buncha years before the game came out and it blew me away. Very much not pg rated, very much not a cookie cutter superhero. Gorgeous pencilwork and the second half of the first season is very good storytelling, and after that it just gets better. The first half of season one is good but it's more short arcs (3 issues or so) that basically say that jackie's awesome.

Suicide Kings. It's a limited series featuring Deadpool and it's definitely not PG (he gets both his arms cut off at one point).

Marvel Zombies is also a fun (if not somewhat disturbing) read.
Suicide kings is awesome.

Here are my recommendations, and all of these are great quality works:

Y: The Last Man

Black Summer

V for Vendetta

Ex Machina

100 Bullets

Runaways

DMZ

If you want descriptions of those, they can be found in the comic book group we have, as I don't want to type them out again. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Comic-Book-group

Watchmen. Their can be only ONE!....Great comic Not whored out and gone series.
Watchmen was a series darling. 12 episodes I believe. Published by DC.
Birds of Prey. Misfit. <3
Elektra: Assassin. So beautifully written. Really outstanding.
It does make me laugh that people honestly think that Watchmen is the only series that isn't whored out. When in fact it has a movie, the graphic novel has been re released about 3 times, action figures are available, and so on.

Whored out against its authors intentions to be fair. Alan Moore was fuming when they made the film. But yeah, Watchmen is probably the most whored out and unoriginal series out that. I love the book, don't get me wrong, but all the characters are rip-offs of other DC characters. That was sort of the point but it doesn't change the fact that it's unoriginal.

I forgot to mention Fables. It's brilliantly written, and it actuslly does something with the fairy tale idea rather than just parody it for really cheap laughs, like the Shrek movies (which, by the way, I'm ashamed to mention in the same sentence as Fables).

And yet every single work he ended up doing save for WildC.A.T.S. was whored out. Every time he thought he found a suit he could trust, they stabbed him in the back. They did it with From Hell, they did it with League of Extroadinary Gentlemen (sweet Jesus on a pogo stick what happened to that??) they did it with V I'll get a quote from him in a second on that) and they did it with Watchmen. Now, back to V.

"[The movie] has been "turned into a Bush-era parable by people too timid to set a political satire in their own country... It's a thwarted and frustrated and largely impotent American liberal fantasy of someone with American liberal values standing up against a state run by neoconservatives?which is not what the comic V for Vendetta was about. It was about fascism, it was about anarchy, it was about England."
God bless that man, the most inept LSD dealer the world has ever known.

squee, that is all.
Squee was good, but it was the weakest of all Vasquez's works. I Feel sick and JTHM were both much, much better.
I'm not saying Squee is bad, just in my opinion the other two were better.

Also, read Watchmen.
And if you can find it, I Killed Adolf Hitler by JASON.

The 100 Bullets series by Brian Azarello and Eduardo Risso. Amazing noir style series that despite going over very familiar ground in a lot of ways completely blows most of the competition out of the water.
100 Bullets is definitely worth checking out. I swear I couldn't put them down once I started reading them.
I was the exact same. I chanced upon it in Waterstone's when I was in England and just about to travel back home to Australia and the blurb was interesting enough for me to pick up the 2 volume. After reading it I immediately regretted not getting more and it took me ages to complete the rest of the series. I'm still missing Wilt (the 13th volume) which is killing me.

Also the Dark Knight novels and Sin City by Frank Miller. The Dark Knight returns and Dark Knight Strikes again are amazing reads and really delve into Batman/Bruce Wayne's character with a clinical objectivity that shows the good and the bad with him.

Sin City is definitely more male sided than most comics out there and it's got a lot of criticism for being sexist and misogynistic but it also has some amazing artwork, bone crunching action and really dark, gritty reality to it. One of my favourite series of all time.

Also Wanted by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones. Don't be dissuaded by the movie. It's about as close to the source material as the Earth to the Sun. It's a look at the world of super heroes and super villains but this time it's the villains who won out. Containing some very amusing references to the comics world, tons of action and a killer idea it's definitely worth taking a look at.

Garth Ennis makes some good stuff if you're not easily offended. Crossed is a mini series that he's doing right now about a group of survivors trying to escape a strange infection that turns humans into truly evil things. He is also currently writing The Boys which is an anti-super hero series where the super heroes are all assholes. And for people mentioning Preacher, Ennis has stated that The Boys will "out-Preacher Preacher." These books are the farthest thing from pg that you can get. Since you're already reading Transmetropolitan you should look up other stuff by Warren Ellis when you're done with that. I'd say try Doktor Sleepless out. And last but not least is all things written by Grant Morrison and since you're reading The Invisibles you're already off to a good start.

Kindom Come: The library had a vopy but I still shelled out 200 kronor (about 20$) for my own. It's that good.

Superman RS: I highly recommend it as well.

Wanted: Very good. The writing is excellent.

in addition to the already mentioned 'Watchmen' 'The Boys' and Vasquez works, I suggest the MAX publishing line of 'The Punisher' by Garth Enis. It's way more brutal and graphic than the Marvel line of Punisher.( lots of blood and exploding heads)

I think after the rake of films that have been made out of his works at this point, he must be past caring by now. I liked V for Vendetta though...

And did "Elektra: Assassin" not feel like "The Dark Night Returns" with different characters?

Any of Alan Moore's Comics; The Killing Joke, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell

Sandman by Neil Goldman (I think thats his name)

If you like Batman; Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Arkham Asylum (also by Neil Goldman but I would only recommend it to certain readers)

Joker (by Brain Azz---something. A very dark, horrific tale of the Joker that depicts him as a cocain/pill addict/alchoholic), Hush Vol 1+2 are fantastic and I'd put these in my top 3 favorite Batman stories.

If you like Manga then I'd recommend Death Note, Hellsing, (and my personal favorite) Gantz.

Kingdom Come is a DC comic that's got an apocalypse sorta theme

And the Sin City novels. That Yellow Bastard, Hell and Back and the Big Fat Kill are the best one's
