I've heard about it but nothing much in detail. All I know is that its supposed to be
a really good anime, but I don't know. Any opinions?

watch the anime, don't read the manga. Also, it depends how much you can stomach, if you've seen a saw movie all the way through, you'll do fine.

Ehhh, i didn't like it.

I was told it was a deep psychological anime but when i watched some of it all i got was boring and hollow characters and fanservice.
The Gore was ok but nothing i haven't seen before.
The story was interesting but it was messy, the theme was interesting though overused and easy to figure out, and again with the characters i didn't like most of them.
I saw the mc Lucy nude more than i saw her character develop.

But that's just me.
Some people really like it and i say good for them.
So give it a shot, if you don't like it then move on.

Though anime like Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell, Monster do Psychological much better.

Basilisk does gore and psyco extremely well.

Great anime if you have low expectations for anime writing.
I mean yes, it gets more flak for its horrible dubbing, but my major beef with the whole thing is the amazing amount of writing convenience.
Lets put it this way *Spoiler alert* kids kill a puppy because some girl is different, you know something that would happen in real life. *Sarcasm*.

Edit: also, its not deep psychological anime. Children get abused because the government wants to have this amazing power thats not ever really explained why the children possess it.

Its deep if you consider amazing amounts of nudity and violence as deep. Its so in your face and unneeded at times it feels more like a strip tease with a bi-polar woman who really likes ketchup.

I read the manga got through about half of the anime then thought "fuck it it'll be faster if I just read it and I don't have to sit through that terrible opening" Twas pretty epic. Still am I the only person who finds the gore not that bad?

The telling of the story is slow while rarely involving entertaining combat or a deep setting. It takes it's time getting in depth and never delivers when it comes to likable characters. As far as character development, dont bother looking for it. It's very linear and predictable. If you've really hit the dead end of anime, then sure, it's worth watching once. But if you get the feeling that it may not be worth watching, the dont. Go watch something deep like Grave of the Fireflies or interesting like Stand Alone Complex.

So, it has a lot of blood and nudity, especially the first couple episodes. If that is something you have a hard time looking past, you won't like it. If you are okay with those as just elements of a story, you will have a better chance to like it.

I thought it was above average... and even if you don't watch it, check out the intro video. It has possibly the most beautiful little song I've ever heard.

Elfen Lied? Sure, I recommend it. It isn't the deepest series around, and the manga delves into far greater detail, but it entertains exceptionally well.
Just go in expecting a somewhat violent anime with a few disturbing themes and some true emotional tugs.

I really liked it. It does have quite a bit of gore and a bit of fan service but the story is pretty good and its not a super long anime at only 13 episodes.

Probably one of the best Anime i've seen. Also the soundtrack "Lilium" on the opening sequence is beautiful.

Really?! Is there no one else that found it dissatisfying? I'm starting to believe that the 'fanage' of anime is turning into nothing more than a source of conversation between digital 'pals'. Is there anyone in this thread with an original thought or will everyone else just spend there time playing circle jerk with each other.

Sorry to be so rough about it all but I've been watching far too much zero punctuation lately that it's beginning to rub off... on your mother.

It is a good anime but be ready for blood, guts, gore, and nudity. All maxed beyond the point of a normal anime.
