Or a few?

I guess I'm pretty picky when it comes too books. Most Stephen King I like (Misery, The Stand, Cell) and I'm almost done with Metro 2033 right now and love it. If someone could recommend me a book, or a few, that would be awesome. Anything post-apocalyptical like Metro 2033 would be amazing. I do already have Mogworld, too.

Boneshaker by Cherie Priest. It's a bitchin' steampunk adventure with zombies and gnarly sky-pirates. :)

post apocalyptic....The Road is good. I'm not a huge fan of the post apocalyptic setting though.

A Game of Thrones from A Song of Ice and Fire....or something less gloomy: Eye of the World from the Wheel of Time series.

I was just about to come in here and recommend The Stand, but I was ninja'd by the OP.

So I'll chime in and go with The Road. Fantastic read. Also, if you're a fan of King and haven't been through The Dark Tower series, do that right now.

If you like King, read H.P. Lovecraft. In fact, read these particular stories, his dmaned best:

The Colour out of Space, a story of a meteorite crashing onto a small New England farm, and the subsequent events that follow the destruction of what appears to be a bubble of an alien colour...

The Call of Cthulhu, his most famous story spun in a three tiered narrative, starting with a nephew's discovery of his late uncles investigation of an aeon old cult and ending with the day their god rose from the depths of the oceans...

The Shadow Over Innsmouth, a story of a tourists escape from a monstrous sea-side town where everyone and everything is against him...

The Shadow out of Time, wherein a professor's body is possesed by an alien intelligence and his mind thrust back in time...

The Mound, a story of the disovery of a strange and hideous underground realm of the undead...

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, an epic and fantastical narrative of an adventurer in a dreamworld searching for a beautiful sunset city, who must escape various perils and defeat various horrors in order to demand it's location from the very gods of Earth and their unspeakable protector...

The Hound, a grotesque and verbose narrative of two graverobber's hideous realization that not all graves contain the dead, or even the mortal, for when they steal an ancient amulet, a terrible curse is unleashed...

I also vastly reccomend looking for any kind of collection of Conan stories by Robert E. Howard - you can get them all in 2 books in the Fantasy Masterworks series. Howard's stories are absolutely amazing in their description, pacing, action and overall feeling.

Also, check out Harry Harrison's 'Deathworld' trilogy - a series of short, pulpy novels that have a great sense of adventure and sci-fi ingenuity.

I don't have anything post apocoplyptic for you, but I do have one that is nonetheless amazing. Check out Guy Gavriel Kay's "The Lions of Al-Rassan". It is amazingly written, brilliantly paced, and above all, it has a great mix of fighting, stratagy, passion, betrayal, and various levels of humor. It's based on the Reconquista, and all of the religions involved have been altered to make it so that it doesn't outright offend anyone. i warn you this, tho', there is a lot of politics in the book, so if you go for, don't be suprised by the astounding headaches that you'll get from trying to figure out the minds of such incredibly subtle chartacters, such as the kings and one assassin/poet/soldier/diplomat/sardonic sunovagun who is very important throughout the book.

Also, things do get very violent, what with around 139 people being killed off before the first chapter ends, and things also get pretty racey, and are explained in impressive detail ;)

Good luck, dude.

Dune. All six books by Frank Herbert.

I rank God Emperor of Dune as the best book I have ever read. ever.

I also like Stephen King, if you have not already done so consider Reading his Dark Tower series, it has 7 volumes and is an absolute master piece, The Dome is pretty epic as well and Through the eyes of the Dragon deserves a mention as well as not many SK readers actually give it a look in.

Who needs books? A DS and Chrono Trigger'll do you right good.

I recommend a Tom Clancy book if you want a story that's well written, but takes itself way too seriously, imo.

How about some Dystopia?

http://www.popcrunch.com/the-16-best-dystopian-books-of-all-time/

I also second the Road.

I assume you have read WWZ? If not do it, now.

Cell by Stephen King is good.

I assume you have alot of SK books. If not, get the Dark Tower Series. Its awesome.

Other then that, the redwall series is good. you dnt really need to read all of them, but it is kinda nice if you pick up certain ones and they reference some of the other books. Though the first one (redwall), is great.

um... If you want non fiction, Into the Wild is good, but kinda depressing.
