recommend me a horror game!

Recently replayed System Shock 2.
Damn, now that's some scary shit..

O wait...360...euhm...Dead Space is on that, right?
(no bash intended, but i seriously don't know anyone with a 360 here)

Get condemned, that things creepy as hell. Though I admit it does resort to the occasional jump scare.

I wouldn't bother with Condemned personally. I bought both with the intent of being scared, and wanting to get freaked out by it and was utterly disappointed. Both were extremely dull to me and the combat felt horrible to me.

I've honestly wondered though, since I've heard people say so often it's terrifying, am I the only one who feels this way about it? I mean honestly, I just don't see the value in it.

As piss-poor as the sales were, I quite enjoyed Cold Fear on the PS2. I'm sure you can find it for about 5 dollars.

F.E.A.R. 1 and 2.
Though I recommend finding a way to play Silent Hill 2. I think there's a pc version but I'm not quite sure. But if you get it, Silent Hill 2 is amazing.

I'm cold on recommendations for the 360.

PS2 could probably get you a ton of straight survival horror recommendations from Silent Hill 2 to Haunting Ground. GCN/Wii could get you Eternal Darkness. On both you could get the mind warping horror game Killer7.

PC has Silent Hill 2 and a good selection of first person titles with more psychological weirdness, I'm kind of thinking of The Void and Penumbra. It also has old school adventure games with dark themes like Sanitarium and I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream.

Most action games just have some horror influences that are offset by you being a total badass who is more lethal than something deadly like Bioshock or FEAR.

and im not actually, or rahter i haven't actually been that big on horror games up until now. i started console gaming properly middle of last year, when i got my 360, so i haven't played Silent Hill 2, although i am aware of the series and the critical responses to it... although i have little hands on knowledge of such games i like to think of myself as relatively well read up.

i have the 360, and silent hill 2 is down as being backwards compatible, that should work out...
