Journey! Very chill, great for meditation, very beautiful. I wouldn't call it stereotypically upbeat and positive, but it's definitely not dark and gritty. It's very sublime. :)

Okami, but that has been said.

Katamari is a great cathartic silly game.

Games like Mario Kart or whatever are nice upbeat fun.

If you want something with a happy plot and characters and stuff, how about Ar Tonelico? It's so happy I get diabetes from the sweetness. ^^; (Although you'll have to deal with its framework of immature humor, but just avoid 3 and you're fine.)

The Touhou Project is fun, challenging, and sugary-sweet also. :)

The Tales of Monkey Island games are easy to play and they are funny as hell. Some of the funniest games I've seen yet.

And I see you've got Sonic Generations but don't see play time for it. That's pretty damn bright and up beat, so that might work for ya.

Thomas Was Alone is generally pretty upbeat. Okay, so it has some downer moments like the name suggests, but it's pretty upbeat from the halfway point onwards.

Okami is one of the most upbeat games I've ever played that also refrains from being saccharine and cloying. Plus, it's a nice, long adventure with a lot to do and beautiful artwork. Should be a great choice for someone who likes fantasy-action.

If you're PC only, what about The Bard's Tale (2004, inXile)? It's a humorous take on old-school fantasy rpgs. Very good for a laugh.

So lately i've done something that's potentially damaging to my psyche. I played and completed Spec Ops: The Line and The Walking Dead in the same week. This has left me pretty down from a gaming perspective. I'm trying to think of a relatively positive and up-beat game and would like some input! Here's a link to my Steam Library for those who wanna know what I play and like: http://steamcommunity.com/id/mrjoe94/games?tab=all I know this is sort of a stupid topic but I was pretty bored and I thought I could get some entertaining answers :p.
You have Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII, play those, they're hilarious.

Well if you ever get a Wii or a Wii U, (assuming you don't have one) definetely try the Kirby games. Especially Epic Yarn. That game is nothing but up-beat and positive.Plus the Dream Collection came out not too long ago.

I am sooo tempted to use your Steam name in an annoying way... Like friend you or send you gifts...

OT: Uuuum...

Well, cheery and upbeat, eh? Rayman Origins, Bayonetta and Uncharted are al quite cheery for the most part but I don't suppose you have the means to play them... Maybe Trine and Terraria? Also Alan Wake's American Nightmare, not exactly cheery but fun and some dialogue will make you smile...

viva pinata is surprisingly fun if you have a 360 just dont think too much about the fact that when pinatas die the children cheer for their blood/candy
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise (aka VP2) is even better. Streamlines a lot of the mechanics for you, gives you more environments, like snow and sand.

Suuuuuuuch a fun game. And now I want to play it.

Lollipop Chainsaw and Saints Row 3.

Specially Saints Row 3, as long as you like some random-over-the-top-awesomeness then get it and rush through it.
If you like simulations i can really recommend you Tropico 4.

Spyro the Dragon until you hit Swamp Land. Honestly Steam doesn't have much in the way of up-beat games. The PS1 has a nice assortment, but most games you're looking for are rated KA-E. OH OH SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE. IT MAKES EVERYTHING OK...until the harder levels.

EDIT: In your steam thingy there's BulletStorm. There's some sad parts but mostly awesome/funny parts. Just stop playing when you meet the general. He's such an asshole.

First thing that popped in my head too. It's a great game where you roll up puppies, schoolchildren, people's houses, boats, and all sorts of things into a big ball and your father (the king of the cosmos) immolates all of it into a new star.

Wait, nevermind.

Play some nintendogs or sims OP, you'll feel better in the morning.

I'd recommend Thomas was alone, it might have some dark moments, but it's pretty lighthearted.

You have not played Psychonauts. Play it. Get some bags of microwave popcorn and real butter or some fizzy drinks or whatever makes you happy and keeps you going and play Psychonauts. It is as upbeat as doing LSD in wonderland, no calories whatsoever. Upbeat, good stuff. Go play. Now.

You also have Stubbs the Zombie. Play it. Finish it. Pee in the pool. Do it. Now. It's like Walking Dead with Disney in 50ies wonderland, with friendly neighbourhoods, eager policemen, helpful retro robots, nice music and you, the zombie. throw intestines, fart in people's general direction or rip their heads off. It's all splendid fun. There's a zombie pandemic happening and you're the one to blame for it, you naughty zombie. Splendid stuff. Doesn't cost a limb, you already got it.

I don't see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl on the list. Most upbeat realistic post-nuclear title. Ever. It's Russia, everyone wants to kill you and you absolutely need to survive to make it to the end. It's a bit edgy, but its traumatic and stressful moments might help take the edge off that Spec Ops: The Line thing you got going.

Symphony is on sale now. Better than Advil and Prozac combined. Just zone out. Enjoy music, enjoy colours, shoot shit. Simple.

Too bad there's no Noby Noby Boy for you. It's like a big reset button for the brain.
