I love BSG, Firefle and Dr.Who, the others are 'meh' and I was wondering if there was any other sci-fi that I could sink my teeth into?.

Edit: and not Stargate
If you haven't watched Farscape, you have not reason to live.

Farscape?

Failing that you might need to turn to cartoons/anime. Gundam wing, code geaus, cowboy bebop, godanner, and so on.

ergo proxy.

Eh. If you're looking for Sci-Fi, there's not a whole lot I can suggest. However if you're looking for a story that isn't completely one dimensional like the ones that have been suggested on this post (Excluding Firefly, Doctor Who, and BSG), check out Dexter.

Again, not a sci-fi, but probably best show ever aired.

Babylon 5 - The entire 5 year arc was planned before it began and it shows. Fantastic characters and a brilliant story. Avoid the spin-offs/films apart from "In The Beginning" which you should watch after as it fleshes out the back story nicely.

Farscape - Cancelled before its time *grumble* but well worth watching. While its got a fairly unique story, its tone is a lot closer to Stargate in the fact its fairly light hearted with dramatic elements rather then the "Serious and Dramatic" tone of BSG. Can be hard to find on DVD though.

Ergo Proxy kicked me in the nuts. I was expecting so much more than...
the fact that human beings fucked up the world, left to some shitty colony leaving the task of making the earth livable again to a bunch of antisocial malcontents with shiny powers, only to come back and not realize that a spawn of a particularly powerful antisocial malcontent was still roaming around waiting to kick their asses...because he was the PROXY OF DEATH! RAWRR!

I mean, what? That sucked balls...

Firefly was a good show, but it's dead now.
And if you want more failure try the Star Wars Christmas special.

fuck yeah, that made me happy :D

Otherwise i would suggest Stargate universe, i personally love it and it's doing a valiant effort of trying to stem my battlestar withdrawl symtoms (which include stealing peoples dice and throwing it at them saying "sometimes you've got to roll the hard six", dressing in drag and asking if people are alive, punching people whilst proclaiming "NO MORE MR NICE GAIUS" and of course saying frack)

Nobody cares about Babylon 5? Weak, guys, weak. I would have thought that it would pe popular here but it seems that you all just scared, weak little children, worthy of neiter pity or mercy.

I will recommend some other sciene-fiction however.

The animated Star Wars show, before the cartoon movie, is quite good.
Twilight Zone
Dune TV series, Dune 200 I think it is. The movie is crap but the book is good so you might want to read that first.

I didn't like the above one very much but hey, it couldn't hurt if you checked it. Not exactly Sc-fi but whatever.
I care very much for Babylon 5. My man crush on Sheridan will most likely never go away. He is almost as awesome as Adama. So another vote for B5 here. :)

Red Dwarf is definitely worth a look. However it's not technically sci-fi because it was very popular, and any thing that is popular can't be sci-fi, because sci-fi isn't cool. This is how the logic of the masses goes.

"I'm not a geek! I hate sci-fi, but OHMIGOsh did you see what happened in Heroes this week!?"

Break out the comic books and suddenly they're not interested in superpowers any more.

Also I'd like to second Farscape, it was amazing but a little weird.
Then if you like Farscape try Lexx, it's a bit like Farscape but even weirder.

And Journeyman, it was a one season affair unfortunately but it was terrific quality television. Based loosely around the old Quantum Leap formula.

And the fella who said the Anne McCaffrey books, do that too. At first they feel a little girly, but when you give up on all your testosterone they're actually really involving.

I was imply i dressed up as Six, but since i'm a hairy man and it's a red dress it would come out very drag esque, and remember DRADIS comments are always accepted and reccomended :)

You could try Sanctuary; I've only ever seen one episode, but it was pretty damn good. It's got actors from Stargate too; one of the main character is Amanda Tapping. Otherwise, X-Files, Farscape, and about a million things that have otherwise already been mentioned.

Do you like reading? If so read the Dune series by Frank Herbert, best Sci-fi series I've ever come across. It's a little slow and a lot of it is politics rather than flashy space battles or the like, but the concepts and themes that Herbert presents are amazing, with an unrivaled imagination and originality I've never seen in another sci-fi series.

Has anyone mentioned Babylon 5 yet? I liked that show. Though I suppose the CGI will appear quite dated by today's standards, maybe comically so. Let's see what I can find on the 'tubes!

Huh. Doesn't look too bad after all!

I can thoroughly recommend it. :)

The DRADIS joke was awesome, I admire a person who can make geeky jokes and only be slightly embarrassed.

Of course I consider them all sci-fi, and all great, except WHO which is mostly great. However Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and Farscape aren't actually popular. I mean, yes they are loved by many of us, many geeks and nerds, but the mainstream society would never even give them a chance and does in fact look down on any one who watches them.
Battlestar's remake and Dr.Who have had a much better advertising campaign and so they are watched by all those people who don't consider themselves sci-fi fans. They, don't even consider the shows sci-fi unless you really press them on it. They'd call them drama, or action, or family entertainment, anything to avoid the negative connotations that go with sci-fi and admit that that's what they're watching.

...I have no idea why I'm ranting about this, please excuse me.
