Also I second Monster Hunter Tri. Also Xenoblade Chronicles. It's almost as good as The Last Story.

Yeah, I think The Last Story is better by a hair. I like the combat and how it lets you adapt strategies by giving you a quick look at the battlefield in order to search out spots where you can sneak out and get headshots (sometimes for one hit kills) or to lure enemies away from their group and take them down silently. I can't say if it's objectively better, but when it comes out in July I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

To be fair I haven't finished The Last Story so I can't say anything about how the story will be compared to Xenoblade, the ending of that game really blew me away. This is also a matter of taste, but as far as I have played now it's pure brilliance. I loved Xenoblade and never thought The Last Story would be able to stand up to it. Sometimes it feels really good to be wrong.

Metroid Prime 3 was the only Wii game that used the Wiimote that I could enjoy. (In fact after getting used to it it became quite like a second nature to aim.)

I know it's not exactly what you requested but I'd recommend tracking down a copy of Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube if you've never played that.

It's the only reason my Wii didn't get a one-way trip to Cash Converters.

Get No More Heroes 1 and 2, it is definitely my favorite 2 games ever to be released on the wii,
Followed by Super Smash Bros Brawl, Tales Of Symphonia Dawn of the New World, and maybe Sonic Colors ya those would be the ones I'd recommend.

I find myself playing those quite often and there are pretty cheap to buy.

Klonoa -- a fantastic and underrated remake of a classic PS1 platformer (which also happens to be sadly underrated).

de Blob -- Another criminally underrated game that every Wii owner truly should have in their collection.

No More Heroes -- Think of it as if Quentin Tarentino had a long lost Japanese brother who made a video game, and it's just that wierd and awesome as that description makes it sound.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii -- ...kindof a no brainer here, really.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves -- Think all minigame-fests suck? You obviously haven't played the awesomeness that is WarioWare...

007 Goldeneye -- Don't discount this one because it appears to be a CoD-esque attempt at making a Bond game and because it isn't exactly like the original Goldeneye (I like to think of it as more of a reimagining of the movie, really). Goldeneye 2010 is actually very fun, and I certainly found the single player far more enjoyable than anything CoD has put out since MW2, in my honest opinion...

To be fair, that game isn't exclusive to the Wii. I agree with you though, very good game.

You can get No More Heroes dirt cheap now so there's no reason to not own it.

Monster Hunter Tri is also really good. However it is very hard and I strongly recommend you get a classic controller pro to play it. I put 96 hours it and if I wasn't forced to sell my wii I'd probably still be playing it. However my number one recommendation would have to be the manliest game in existence on the virtual console.

Is that your way of saying "Last Story's final boss isn't an overpowered cheap-ass who repeatedly punches you in the dick," or "Last Story's final boss is bigger and more epic than f**king ***"?

Well, I haven't had the time to play it to the end, but most bosses I have met so far are more about strategy than level. Fighting one of the early bosses in the game you will find that it is probably possible to beat him using brute force, but you can also find a vantage point where you hide then use an attack where you jump from cover into an attack which will knock him down and make him unable to attack for a while. I am guessing the final boss will follow that pattern but you'll probably need more advanced strategies.

Yes. Red Steel 2 is a bland, uninspired, mediocre Ubisoft game, and Goldeneye is an average, lackluster game lacking in content. I recommend Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 over either of them any day.

OT: Super smash bros brawl. If you want, you should hack it with brawl -, makes it a lot more fun.
The mario galaxy games are really solid.
Fire emblem, both Path of Radiance and Radiant dawn if you can
Pikmin 2. I'd play it with a gamecube controller if possible, though.
Metroid prime trilogy. First one was the best one IMO, and again, better with gamecube controller.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

Do you like Marvel vs Capcom, but feel like it just doesn't have enough obscure anime characters for your taste? Then Tatsunoko vs Capcom is for YOU! In all seriousness, TvC is a dead solid tag-team fighting game. If you can get past the language thing (as it only has japanese audio), and the fact that you probably won't know a fair bit of the Tatsunoko side, then I'd highly recommend it. And hey, you might just learn something about anime in the process. Plus, you can play as this guy:


Also, I'm glad to see that pretty much every other post in this topic has mentioned No More Heroes. Did you get it yet? You really should. I know I already mentioned it... but it bears repeating.

The one that I own that best uses the motion controls is Okami, as if anything needs to be said about that amazing game, others have explained why it is great with far more convincing arguments than I could write up, Daystar Clarion could probably explain it.


Other than that, I am now playing Xenoblade Chronicles which has absolutely no motion controls at all, which can be a blessing. The game is very, very good so far, I haven't beaten yet though. The story is very refreshing in my opinion, its main focus is the subject of revenge, and I have yet to hear a single person say something along the lines of "noooo revenge isn't the answer!" The game was localized to Britain and only gamestop sells it in the US (I think) so the voice actors are all British, which is fucking hilarious at times, but was annoying at first (It isn't bad, I enjoy it, it just throws me for a loop at times). The combat took a little bit to get used to but after a while I was loving it. The setting is easily the most interesting one I have ever seen, the game world is on the backs (and other limbs) of 2 gargantuan titans that fought in ancient times, and when the both died in place, life grew from their corpses. Finally, graphics are... not great, but that does not matter in the slightest to me. All in all, it is a really great game, if you like JRPGs that is

You can always switch to the Japanese track. And since you don't know about the Gamestop exclusitivity, I assume you're British yourself... So then how are the accents weird to you?
And the story is partly about revenge on the Mechon, but also about stopping them from senselessly killing people.

No I'm from the US, I remember reading somewhere that only gamestop sold it here but I wasn't sure, since I go there anyways. And I didn't mean to make it sound like I disliked the voice acting, I enjoy it, but Rayne sounds like an American stereotype of a British person, which I find funny

I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles and I'm honestly having a hard time urging myself to continue. I'm near the top of the first gargantuan, doing endless pointless and interchangeable missions for people. The story is alright, the combat is decent (though repetitive when questing), but the questing itself is the worst kind of search and grind.

I enjoy the open areas, but there seems relatively few reasons to actually explore it other than to see the sights. I was thinking I'd just skip the extra quests and rush the main questline, but falling behind in levels makes bosses difficult and the game seems to assume you're going to do most of the sidequests.

Is this worth it? Shall I press on to the end?
