Uncharted: Drakes Fortune...best game ever...get your PS3 now and play it, NOW!
God I hate that game so much. It's the only game I have which I haven't finished because it's just boring.

I would recommend Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, MGS 4 (if you are a fan. If not you will probably hate this game) and Valkyria Chronicles although I still think it's only decent.

I'm also going to get a PS3 just to get exclusives (eventually), but I might as well recommend some good multi-platforms since the obvious lists have been taken:

. To rent:

. Assassins Creed
. Prince of Persia
. Heavenly sword
. Uncharted : Drakes Fortune
. Mirrors Edge

To buy:
. Dead Space
. The Orange Box
. GTA 4

damn... how can somebody call Uncharted boring? It's action sequences all the time. And if it's not action, then it's a small puzzle or an amazing cinematic.

Maybe because there are so many action sequences it is boring. And amazing cinematics? Where? I haven't seen one in the game and if there is a cinematic it inlcludes horrible dialog.

Or maybe it's boring because there is nothing special about it.

. Left 4 dead
That game is only for the 360.
Either way I would say fallout 3 and all the others have already been said :p
Good point - I forgot - The Orange box it is!
Don't do it. You'll be sorry.

That said, I also only use my PS3 for exclusives, but something to remember: in our modern world of "Ten Hours = Long Game", most of the really great exclusives for any system are rentals at best. I currently only own two games for the PS3, and then there's the huge stack of PS2 games I still play on it. But there are a bunch of good rental options that others in this thread have mentioned.

Might I recommend Gamefly if you're in the US? Costs about as much as an MMO for unlimited game rental service.

The 1st Mototstorm is worth picking up as well sense the price has dropped alot an and the varity of tracks an vehicles racing the same course twice never really feels the same.

Plus I have to agree with almost everything said above only due to the fact i havvn't played them all.

If by Lelouch you mean Lelouch Lamerlouge or however the hell you spell it from Code Geass, consider me sold!
Yeah, same voice actor. Suzaku (Takahiro Sakurai) is in it as well.
Doubly sold! Very good voices for the characters they portrayed.

I just got one yesterday. Only really using it for exclusives - got MGS4, Resistance 2, Haze
....why?
I was wondering the same thing.
can i wonder the same thing twice?
Let me try and answer that one...
I have a PS3 and the only non-PS3 exclusive I have on it is Silent Hill: Homecoming - which I have because the game was refused classification in Australia, so I had to import the non regionlocked PS3 version as opposed to getting it on the 360.

But the majority of my gaming is done on the 360 - I have the PS3 to pick up that rare PS3 exclusive that I think is worth playing (so far: LBP, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank: ToD), and for blu-ray movies.
When a multi-platform title turns out better on the PS3 than 360 (something that is yet to happen), things might change.

So that's why.

Super Street Fighter II HD Remix and Bionic Commando: Rearmed are pretty nice.

Though I appreciate your recomendations, I dislike fighting games and I played the Bionic Commando: Rearmed demo and I didn't really like it.

But thanks anyway for your help, I may look into SSFII a bit even if I don't like the genre much.

well, it really depends what you're looking for.

if you live alone, and like to spend time alone - Oblivion, Fallout (made by the same company)
if want a game that will still be very popular by time you get your PS3 - CoD4, maybe CoD5, and resistance 2

want some scares - Siren Blood Curse, and Dead Space. Maybe Bioshock and Condemed

value - LBP (great deal at GameStop), The Orange Box

anything else, just message me, my brother works at SCE

I think you misunderstood the why (even though I think you're being a damn fool in doing that). Look at the last game in his shortlist.
Well, I think enough has been said about Haze.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far. And to answer Jumplion's question, no it doesn't matter what genre.
