This topic is done to death probably, but this is probably hard to do unless you know what a person likes. So I been watching some Anime, but it's really daunting trying to jump in with such limited knowledge.

I've watch Cowboy Beebop, Akira and Ghost in the Shell and liked them. I've seen some Durarara!! but I haven't seen enough to get a good opinion of it yet.

So can you recommend so Anime based off what I've seen.
Well I think a good "beginner" anime would be avatar the last air bender and the boondocks.

They combine west and east styles of animation pretty good.

And another one would be IGPX its from the same animation studio from ghost in the shell.
The Boondocks is one of my favorite shows of all time, but I never really knew it was considered anime. I knew it drawn in that style but wasn't sure it was really considered anime.

Gash Bell

Provides hours upon hours of going "Wtf" at your TV screen.

It's goddamn hilarious; but has an actual serious storyline that you can really get into

"Anime" is just short for animation and cartoons fall into it.

Its a complicated thing to talk about....

I always recommend the boondocks so that people can transition to the style of Japanese animation easier.

And also IGPX

FMA/FMA brotherhood are good, and not too in depth. But honestly, you're probably pretty good if you just cruise through some of the old toonami stuff, like DBZ. Give "Kiba" a shot too. I don't really know what you mean be beginer anime, it's not like it takes skill to watch. You'd be better off, IMO, looking for action anime from your suggestion. If you don't mind long anime, give naruto a shot. It's actually pretty good if you can tolerate the length and the filler. Inuyasha is like that too, although I think it's even longer, and it definitely has more filler.

Every time on these threads, people will put the anime they especially enjoyed. I feel this is too personal. To subjective.

So you know what? Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he can get his own damn fish so he never has to ask anyone for their fish.

Samurai Champloo
Michiko and Hatchin
Tiger and Bunny

All of these are very easily accessible to American audiences, having lots of western culture shining through. Unfortunately, on the list only Samurai Champloo has an English dub but it's FAR superior to the Japanese one (believe it or not). All of them have great animation sequences, likable/deep characters, and fantastic action scenes. Plus, almost 0 over the top expressions (cheers!).
Tiger and Bunny I strongly recommend, if you're into superheroes/comic books. The concept is a little similar to X-Men, except the heroes are referred to as NEXT. Takes place in a fictional New York City.
In terms of style, Michiko and Hatchin is similar to Cowboy Bebop for its narrative being more character driven, with a strong influence from jazz as well.
Samurai Champloo was directed by the same man who created Cowboy Bebop, and it's also character driven. It's very stylized and beautiful to look at. No moemoe bullshit in this anime though, no worries.

EDIT:
All right, I'll add some trailers as well, showcasing each anime.

I've always been a fan of pretty much every Gundam series. I would also like to say that the newest one, Gundam 00, is probably one of the easiest to get into since it doesn't contain some alternate timeline or naming system for years.

Good call. Searching for yourself is really the best option in the long term.

I could also recommend http://www.anime-planet.com

How about you go to animeseason.com check the Categories/ Genres section and read some summaries and watch some eps?

If you really want a suggestion...Code Geass.

death note, its easy to follow and is quite short.
ghost hunt, easy story line pretty down to earth, and has good balance of character variation.
and id also suggest hellsing good plot and has a good charecters.

I usually recommend Black Lagoon as a "beginner" anime because it's spoofing a lot of Western/American movie tropes and is pretty easy for a Western audience to follow/appreciate, even if they have zero experience with anime or Japanese culture. It's an action-y show about modern day pirates (the kind that hang out in Southeast Asia and steal data and shoot people and scream "Fuck!" all the time. :D)

Definitely go with Death Note. That one's a must.
Then you could always go for things like...
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Yu Yu Hakusho (For good 90's anime!)
Hellsing

I am not a big anime watcher and I heard bleach and thought "lol hydrogen peroxide" so I watched it and I like it, only watched the dubs though. I can't stand subs, it's like watching tv, reading a book and listening to a strange sound track.

So try bleach, interesting plot (to me), no sexualisation like the eastern world is usually into, pretty action scenes and you always want to know each person's special attack.

These two look really fun! I do like stuff with a more 'Urban' vibe. Are you familiar with Basquash?
Or any of Studio 4c's work?
I've also been watching something lately called Rideback which is a good mix of Urban and Mecha genres.

For OP, you have to ask yourself what you personally are interested in.
Dig Westerns? There's an anime for that. Interested in cooking? They got one for that, too. TnA? In frikin spandes. Western Cooking with TnA? Look it up, it's out there.
While you're looking for those, check out Crayon Shinchan. It look's like it'd be a kids show, but it very much isn't.

What the hell is "beginner anime"?
Watching anime isn't a skill you know, it's not like there are different levels. You can watch any anime without having to do some sort of training.

Anyway, I recommend you watch Death Note, Welcome to the NHK and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Haha, how come I haven't heard about this one so far? That's exactly what I've been looking for! ("exactly that" being a crazy anime with a distinct art style like Dead Leaves or Mind Game, not the part with shit ghosts or anything :p )

I'd reccomend Cowbo.. oh...

Studio Ghibli? Princess Mononoke is good. Or are you looking for series?

If you liked Ghost in the Shell, watch Ghost In The Shell:Stand Alone Complex, of which it is the film (unless you mean the series...).~

Gurren Lagann is good but it's a bit ZAAAANY! Panty and Stocking even more so (I gave up on it after the episode with all the sperm...)

Ohoh! Watch Cromartie High School! It's genuinely hilarious. Superficially, it's about a kid going to a new school, but it basically uses that as an excuse for crazy humour and nonsensical plots. It also has a good English dub.

Just an example of how good this show is. I went in with the specific intent of hating it because it was recommended to me and I hadn't heard of it, and it still became my (second...) favourite anime.

THIS IS A NON-SEQUITUR!
