I ask this because I am finding it hard to find new bands that I actually like.
I Like hard rock and a fair bit of metal but not a big fan of the mainstream rock.
and while your at it you might as well list your top 5 favourite bands/singers.

It might help if you list the bands you already listen to so you dony get a list of the same bands.
And i really suck at the whole music genre thing. I cant tell the difference between them XD
But hey, i like Slipknot, Atreyu, Amon Amarth, Rise Against, Iron Maiden
Any of these working for ya?

My friend has told me about a band called One day as a lion, or something like that. He has your taste in music.

Them Crooked Vultures was my favorite album this year, and sounds more or less like what you're looking for. And while you're at it, check out Queens of the Stone Age, as they sound pretty similar.

Try some Shadows Fall, Chimaira, Trivium, Whitechapel, Heaven Shall Burn.

that's just off the top of my head, I'd probably have about 20 others for you to try.

Try some new types of music then. The same thing happened to me, I used to listen to metal pretty much exclusively for a long time but I've gotten pretty tired of it so recently, over the last month or so, I've been listening to some other genres like dubstep, drum & bass, trance and hardcore. I'm still finding new bands at the moment and don't know a lot about it but it's a nice change from metal which I'm currently enjoying. You might wish to try the same thing.

Not technically a band so much as a project, but they've released 2 albums and both were bloody awesome, so I'm recommending the Allen/Lande collaborations anyways.

You might also consider listening to Cold, given your professed like of Three Days Grace.

You may like Godsmack. Listen to "I Stand Alone" (one of my favs).
I mainly listen to Disturbed and Godsmack. I'm very picky about my music.

Cat Empire
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Mustard Plug
Operation Ivy
and The Wiggles are bands I would recommend.

My few favorites of mine are Reel Big Fish, Bomb the Music Industry!, Flogging Molly, The Aquabats, Pride of Lions Orchestra, Deathklok, Metallica, Honest Bob and the Factory to Dealer Incentives, ZZ Top, Wolfmaster, Police and Streetlight Manifesto.

Those are the majority of albums I have in the CD case beside me.

I was savagely let down by that album. It sounded as if it was a jam that should've stayed in their bedroom. Given the hype that was understandably surrounding it I was expecting a lot better.

I agree. I used to listen to nothing but hard-rock and metal but after a while I just wanted something else. Try some Pink Floyd, Mumford & Sons, Tom Waits, Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Amy Winehouse (she is actually very good, ignore the tabloid bollocks) and maybe some Johnny Cash (The American albums.)

Or just go as deep into metal as most sane mortals are willing to go and buy Napalm Death - Scum, their first album. It's an experience.

Captain Beefheart?
