Guild Wars? Nah, sorry. Confusing, poor graphics (compared to more recent/more "expensive" MMOs), and no sense of multiplayer outside of cities.
Sorry, I have a bone to pick with this. The graphics are fine, and especially in the most recent expansion Eye of the North, they're gorgeous. No sense of multiplayer? To be honest, I think Guild Wars has the best multiplayer system: you only play with people in your party. Then you don't have to worry about assholes who kill steal, try to get you killed by dumping mobs on you, and the like.

I also love the PvP system. There's a wide variety of PvP activities, and the metagame is always changing since Anet keeps trying to "balance" the skills, which means there's always something new to master.

EVE Online is one of the most graphicly rich MMO's out at the moment. The PVE is intuative, the storyline is epic, it has a real time player built economy and every player is on the same server. But the best thing about EVE Online is the PVP. This system is intuative and versitile with endless variations of shiptype and fittings. The PVP engagements can range from 1 on 1 to several thousand on each side. Furthermore there are no set classes allowing the player to advance how they see fit.

Mabinogi anyone? Its got a moderately large game world but its not overwhelming, graphics are good and in 3D, no set classes (you train your skills individualy), tons of skills to learn, and its Free. Of course it can't compete with the subscription MMOs but its exelent for people on a budget.

personally I would say guild wars.

Pro's:
-the whole 8 skills thing does make you think quite carefully

-the individually instanced area's mean you can go do a quest with some friends while not running into a horde of other people doing the same one

-the PvP is the most balanced I have seen to date

-with the expansions there is a HELL OF A LOT TO DO

-no monthly fee

Con's:
-individually instanced worlds mean you cant just meet up with someone mid-quest

-until you get to level 20 making money can be slow

-low level cap

-to get some of the best skills you need the expansions

There you go, I think that's fair enough. Also if you do get it let me know and I will happily help you out with whatever

Don't get sucked into WoW. I would suggest final fantasy XI or Guild Wars. Just don't get sucked into WoW. And from what I've heard, blizz has basically taken all of the hard stuff out of the game and has left little challenge for the gamers.
