Red Dead Redemption Not Coming to PC Any Time Soon

If you planned to explore the old west with a mouse as well as a horse, you'd better get comfortable, as you'll be waiting a while.

Rockstar has announced that it has no plans to release a PC version of Red Dead [http://www.amazon.com/Red-Dead-Redemption-Playstation-3/dp/B001SGZL2W/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1276262283&sr=8-1-fkmr1] Redemption [http://www.amazon.com/Red-Dead-Redemption-Xbox-360/dp/B001SH7YMG/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1276262283&sr=8-2-fkmr1] in the near future. Responding to a user comment on the Rockstar news wire [http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/6201/red_dead_redemption_people_of_the_west_screensaver_update.article/#comments], a Rockstar representative said: "As of now, there are no current plans to bring Red Dead Redemption to the PC platform. If that should change, we will let you know."

This doesn't mean that a PC version isn't coming, as Rockstar has a habit of delaying the PC versions of its games for months, but if previous time scales are any indication, it might be as late as the beginning of 2011 before PC gamers get to see what all the fuss is about.

Superb game - a shame that Rockstar proved themselves with GTA IV to be completely and utterly retarded when it comes to making PC ports.

Anyway, they denied a PC GTA IV like this for ages too.

Well, not that it matters to most of us who have ito n console...but, I imagine the PC version would be very, very pretty!

Although I already have the game, I don't really see the Video Editor realized on any platform other than a PC.
So it's a damn, damn shame.
Unless they're lying which very well might be the case.

I'm sure I'll get impatient and get it for the ps3 well before a pc version sees the light of day.

Superb game.
I Agree, I would even Suggest if your into Multiplayer just wait for it, But if you a game with a well driven story then buy a cheap second hand xbox or ps3 and get this game.

Quite frankly? Good.

I'm sick to death of half-arsed PC ports, and I'd rather stick with the good stuff instead of some crappy console run-off.

Especially given RDR has so many flaws anyway.

No idea what the PC GTA4 was like. Feel free to educate me. :)
Imagine playing it on a console only being able to see with a strobe light. At half the speed. And it falls over completely at times.

Shame. I wanted a Firefly mod. Luckily I have a PS3 anyway.
Oh god did you have to say that? You've practically ruined my day just with that thought! Lol, damn you :p

OT, I seriously doubt it would be good on the PC - I mean, Rockstar+ports is bad enough at the best of times, but considering the bugs the game already has I dread to think what RDR would port across as :S

Plus, of course, the PC market seems to be smaller, so they're not going to be in any hurry :/

That kind of sucks. The mods would be interesting and there will be bound to be people hacking Xbox Live to put them in free roam obeying all of the Live rules and keeping modding on PC.
Those people only make me more avoidant of PC gaming.

Their horrible pc port of GTA4 has really robbed this announcement of its thunder. I'm a long-time player of the series on the pc, and I've given up waiting for a patch to fix the mess they made with the GTA4 port. If they are unable to get that one right, then there is little hope that they can make a decent port of RDR.

So, meh, no loss really.
