I always enjoyed season 3-6 the most. I wouldn't mind watching another season if it had a great ending for the entire series. Could probably just have a movie for that though.

I thought that a Red Dwarf remake/movie would be like Duke Nukem Forever: Geekdom's Second Coming of Christ. I mean with this announcement and that trailer, surely this heralds the endtimes?

I'm all for it. The last two series' were bad when compared to the rest of the show, but if you compare it to an average British sitcom of that era its still decent IMO. Red Dwarf really is one of the best shows evarrrr

Are you talking about a new season??!! If so: About fucking time!! It's bad enough that they left the show on a bloody cliffhanger. I love Red Dwarf, when I was 12 I had a friend at school and we would quote it all the time :D, Yes we were both PHENOMENAL nerds, good times...

Are you trying to tell me everybody's dead?

Woah new episodes! Has anyone here read the books? I always felt like a bit of a twat for liking them more than the TV show.

(yes, yes. Red Dwarf is where I got my name from back when I was a young stupid fan being.)

Does that mean season eight never happened either? We can only dream.

I really should dig up that 10th anniversary special they did on tv. I got it on tape somewhere and need to transfer it to a digital format. The cooking show with Ainsley Harriot is great stuff. Did they ever release that to dvd?
Yeah they did, can't remember without checking, but I think it was on the Series 5 DVD.

And yeah, Series 1-6 were THE shit, series 7-8 were just shit. (I'm pretty sure I know which 3 episodes you mean too, and I agree!)

How many books are there? I got a two-for-one volume of Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life from a book club back in '93, and a friend of mine got me Last Human while he was out in the UK a couple of years ago. I wouldn't say the books are better, but they are definitely worth reading.

I seriously hope this is true. I remember finishing series eight, feeling so excited to watch the next one and find out what happened with Death, that when I found out there was never going to be a series nine I felt like smashing my laptop.

Then I just went and did something else and was fine, but at the time, I was pissed.

I don't think any 'proper' fan can say series 7 and 8 were the best, but I certainly don't think they were terrible... just not as good as earlier series. It'd definitely be interesting to see what they do with it if they do make any more and I really think it's too much of a cult classic for them to not have listened to the fans' opinions about the later series.
