I was under the impression that the Romans took the Greek gods and made them more clear-cut.

Hera- Nagging, jealous, spiteful wife vs. Juno- Perfect, ideal wife
Zeus- Vengeful, irresponsible womanizer vs. Jupiter- Perfect leader

etc., etc.
Not totally true, their perceptions of them changed.

FOr instance Ares in Greek mythology is somewhat of a sniveling, hot headed cry baby in Greek Mythology. He is not a God to look up to. Romans on the other hand thought he was someone to look up to (being a nation started from thieves)

If anything Romans were nastier than Greeks, they were no where near "clean cut" in their mythos or lifestyle pre-Christianity

Me, Greco-Roman or Chinese. Mesopotamian was pretty cool too. But sionce only one of them is on there my vote goes to Greco-Roman

I love most mythology so I find it hard to just pick one. You are bound to miss lots of groups but China has lots of mythology too...
If I'm forced I'll say the Greeks... Because they have all the cool names and monsters... And Sparta!
This is Madness!
Madness?
Bet you didn't see that coming did you?

Egyptian.
I know that, as a German, I'm supposed to say Norse, but I always found Egyptian mythology more interesting.

Norse is pretty awesome and brutal. I will say, though, that Christian Mythos portrays the same (see Old Testimate).

I clicked Greek, but then immediately after this I remembered Japanese mythological stories.

not sure ut im mostly a fan of the lot, the worst is the Aboriginal mythology as it barely makes any sort of sense
in creation everyone just sort of wakes up after the "dreamtime" with no explanation really as to how they got there
and how everyone during the Dreamtime got turned into annoying animals like dingoes or mountains (Three Sisters)

Egyptian for me. Their gods were their kings, thats how to run a country.
Up until recently the Japanese considered their emporers to be Gods or at least Demi-Gods.

Greek and Roman have variety, but I prefer the use of symbolism in the Norse mythos. The Egyptian stories are interesting because they are so messed up(Isis has sex with Osiris to bring him back to life after he has been killed and chopped up.Good stuff).

No that's all quite logical if you ask me...

Seriously, it's still better than Scientology....

Norse!!! I mean their creation and end o' teh world theories are AWESOME!! I mean, a load of ice and a load of fire crash into each other and form a giant and for some reason, a COW. The freaking cow licks the ice into a man. This man has three grandsons, and they kill the giant just for funzies, then they get some wood from nowhere, wittle a bit and make the first two humans.

And their end of the world - just a huge battle between the gods and the giants and all the dead guys from Hel. And the Midgardsnake is there too - that huge snake that can wrap itself around the entire earth. And he kills Thor. And loads of the gods die. And then the god of the underworld just chucks fire over everything and burns it the hell down. But the World Tree is still standing and after all that crap a new human race'll be born.

Vikings rule. Especially Techno-viking.

Have to say Greek, given the choices. But overall, my favourite would be Celtic mythology. The legends of Arthur and all the tales from the old Irish and Scottish bards... absolutely wonderful :D

Other - Celtic. This is our ORIGINAL religion in this country.
THIRD. My sister brought home a big, BIG, book of Celtic mythology (like, 1000 pages, tiny tiny text big). I was completely incapacitated for a week of summer holiday. After you've been forced to memorize the first 12 chapters of Edith Hamilton's book on Graeco-Roman mythology, Celtic mythology is a huge relief. I remember a story about three sisters who tried to escape from this witch, and only the third one made it because she stopped to help all these animals/personified objects along the way so they mislead the witch when she went to follow them; I remember another VERY long story about a boy whose name was something like Merrick or Maric and he had a brother who wasn't really a brother but they grew up together so it was sort of like that and there was this epic story... yeah, I should go reread that stuff. Sigh... <3
