Personally I hate anyone that uses something they didn't create to express or represent themselves.

It's a show for 5 year old little girls; that now you, probably an older teenage are watching. I don't like it because most of you who watch this SHOW FOR 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS are just people who are into it because the rest of the internet is, because you wanna fit in with a stupid ass group.
Everyone knows video games are just toys for little kids. Honestly I think it's pretty obvious that teens/adults who play video games are just sad, lonely, developmentally retarded shut-ins. Imagine if you devoted all that time and energy to something important, like football! Don't you know this computer games thing is just a fad that will blow over, and you'll be left with nothing but wasted time? If you don't believe me, just watch Fox News (the only news station that hasn't been bought out by corporate interests trying to push that poisonous hobby)!
If you're not being facetious, the stupidity of that comment is enough to make me lose faith in people.
Pokemon is marketed towards little boys, 5 year old little boys, everyone likes pokemon, must be some sort of conformist thing.
I must be one of those losers who think pokemon got boring when i was 10 and hate the pony thing.
Its the same deal though, you don't activities hate everyone with a pokemon avatar, nore does pokemon get any hate, why? because it generally accepted to be a quality Game, the TV show not so much but still, maybe you don't understand what we see in the show, but that isn't to say that lauren faust didn't try there best to make a good tv show, and much of us see that, we see passed the 5 year old asthetic and see whats good about it. Its Looney Tunes with a feminine paint job, and not stupid feminine ether, it has episodes that symbolize religion, racism, how we mistreated native americans and finding strength within ones self. I understand its not for everyone, but saying its not good, or note worthy because it just happened to be "aimed at little girl" is wrong. Its like saying every disney princess movie sucked. Im sorry you don't see what some of us see in it. Yes it is a very large group, and maybe some of us take it too far, but doesn't every group of fans have its bad apples?

It's because people have ponies as avatars. Ponies as avatars. On the Escapist. It's just... it's just going too far.
Not only did I pee myself from laughter, but I also burst my spleen and landed myself in the hospital.
I don't know why you're laughing this is a serious matter. I mean, consider.

There are people

on the Escapist

who have avatars

which contain characters

from the cartoon

My Little Pony.

...

Seriously, how much worse can it get? I don't know why the mods haven't cracked down on these people. The audacity they must have to pull off this heinous and criminal act. It's just sickening. I hope no children happen to glance at the screen while their parents/older siblings happen to be on. The mental scars they're carry through their life... nobody should be made to carry that burden.
the burden of? seeing a brightly colored cartoon pony, that may or may not be a Pegasus or unicorn, or both in rare cases

>.>

yes, a truly terrible thing, unlike the anime/videogame/manga/comic avatars every one else has :p the mods should crack down on them to, cause those can be just as scarring as the ponies

It's really simple - the "bronies" who like it for some reason find it neccessary to post it everywhere, make memes out of it and just blow it out of proportion really

I mean come on if you say some silly nickname is what you are for liking something then it's gone too far

I didn't put words in your mouth.
and now you're lying.
You said a 3D model is a cartoon which is a gross generalisation.
Didn't say that, though it IS true for the most part. 3D animation in video games isn't all that different from theatrical 3D animation, like in say, a pixar movie.

And if we go by your definition which is incredibly broad and covers all non-live action media, what is the problem with cartoons?
Putting more words in my mouth.

You talk about Fox as if he is on a higher plane of existence because he's animated using a 3D engine instead of photoshop. I said nothing ill of cartoons, I just want you to stop pretending an anthropomorphic fox is anything other than a cartoon.

Hi!
I was in the "Memes you hate" thread, and noticed a lot of people voted for My Little Pony. I'm just curious of why you hate it. I don't think there's much of a reason to, at least not on the escapist. We keep to ourselfes in the MLP group chat, and the only pony you get from us are our avatars. Otherwise we're like any other escapist user. And I don't see you hating on people with, let's say, TF2 avatars, even though there's a lot of people with that too.
Well, I thought some of the stuff had been toned down, and things were getting back to normal, at least normal for this site. But, the giant pony picture that was posted in the thread for the newest installment of the Critical Miss comic says otherwise. The big thing that came out of the whole pony thing was that the fervent fans of the show haven't been all that great at being subtle and courteous when they bring their fandom out.

The picture I was talking about is an example, because I find that I haven't found one post where a pony fan properly put their giant picture in spoiler tags so that it doesn't mess up the flow and size of the thread. Yeah other people do it to, the example being the funny troll picture near the beginning of this thread, but with the majority of the other fan bases of things, people put pictures in spoiler tags and are much more civil when someone says something about the thing they like.

You making this thread shows my point. So what if somebody makes a vote thread and the majority vote that they don't like the pony thing. Why is this so alarming that, that you have to make a whole thread about it. Of course you are free to do so, but it just comes off as desperate to have everybody like what you like.

On the avatars thing, I don't nearly see as many TF2 avatars as pony avatars. Plus what gets old is that so many pony fans have the same pony avatar and they copy of each other that it is hard to tell each person apart unless I pay close attention and quote the right name before I comment. With most people on this site, I can usually easily recognize if I have read comments from them before, because most have pretty unique avatars, but I have seen quite a few people sporting your avatar, and other pony avatars I have seen in this thread. While, I haven't seen quite that many TF2 avatars that are the same.

There are a few people that have similar Doctor Who avatars, but I would say about 90% or more that I have seen are unique. I strive to be unique with my avatar and not follow the group. I specifically picked out a section of one of the newer episodes cut it down in Windows Maker and used a gif making program to turn it into a animated gif. It really isn't hard at all, my first one I made was a Scrubs gif of the Janitor doing a jig:

It took about an hour of time to learn how to use Movie Maker, find a good gif making program, and learn how to use that. After that it took all of five minutes to make a unique avatar.

...
...

On uniqueness like that, I have maybe seen five or six new pony avatars since the craze started, but four have become spread around so that they aren't unique, and two have been replaced by user that seems to change his avatar almost every month if not every week, he probably knows who he is, he is an okay guy as well.

I don't watch the show, but it wouldn't become so grating on the Net if the fans actually came up with something new instead of posting and having the same stuff over and over again. But again, the overreacting and being offended by the slightest hint of somebody saying that they don't like the show or find the memes annoying (on the seeming, most of the fans), it isn't a surprise that a lot of people are annoyed by it all and vote that they hate the pony stuff.

So the next time you see stuff like that meme vote thread, just let it slide and continue in your fandom, oh and strive to be unique, because for a show that from what I have seen(the show is partly about being unique and being accepting of uniqueness), the majority of you aren't being very unique in your fandom. You pony fans all talk about being a part of the herd, well instead of totally being a part of the herd, stand out from it and be different, be unique.

Yes, but the explanation IS hate.
Yeah, they have reasons as to why, but at the end of the day their just hating(No not the "haters going to hate" hating, just hating.)

Tolerate and love the shit out of them, Brony. :3

People who can't participate in an argument or debate without resorting to macros, or just fall back on the "just watch it before hating it" with YouTube links. Stop it. You're not helping.
I vaguely disagree. It's one of the best arguments you can make. Nopony should actively dislike or even hate something they've had no experience with. if they watch it and don't like it, fair enough. But people really need to learn to make informed judgements and opinions instead of the "herpaderp is for leetle girls" nonsense they do now.
And no, not just for pony-based animation, but any bloody thing in life.

Except vegetarianism, that's just silly. Animals are delicious.
I get what your saying, but this is a cartoon show, not deciding who's going to rule your country for the next X years. Think realistically. If someone is dead set on hating the show than posting episodes and telling them to watch it isn't going to do anything but make them more upset and giving them more of an excuse to call you preachy.
Then we ignore that person for being a silly filly. Or better yet, point at them and laugh derisively.
Not that politics really goes any better anyway.

Already aware of it. It's also just a MLP hate thread in disguise. And that thread does in no way represent the majority on the Escapist.
Just came from that thread - how is making a poll of notorious memes then the OP saying out of them my little pony annoys him the most a hate directed thread?

So what's stopping you from having your pony discussions there instead of dragging the subject kicking and screaming into the main forums?
It isn't due to pony hate, because there's no smoke without fire. If there was no reason for us to hate it, we wouldn't hate it.

I never said they were childish, you are the one putting words in mouths.
It's in the very message you just quoted, look:

Any yes, Space ships are cooler and less childish than brightly coloured ponies who believe "friendship is magic".
Don't use a descriptor if you don't want to imply that description.

In what way is it childish I ask you? They are going to save the freaking galaxy from a man who wants to watch them die, not childish at all.

You are taunted about how your father squealed before he died and how you were going to be tortured.

Childish?
Not_sure_if_troll_or_just_stupid.jpg

I mean, everypony knows that in MLP:FiM the mane cast embarked on a quest to stop an evil tyrant who planned to stop the Sun rising, casting their world into eternal darkness.

But then I suppose they didn't do it with polygonal spaceships so it's not cool.
Ok, first of all. Your villian simply threatened to cause harm. Andross destroyed nearly all life in the system and turned worlds into wastelands (look at Zoness, it is a planet filled with nothing but pollution and machinery).

He was on the verge of winning after he invaded Corneria before the Star Fox team came.

Any yes, Space ships are cooler and less childish than brightly coloured ponies who believe "friendship is magic".

IT'S SO GRIITY AND MATURE! GARGH CHEST HAIR!

When did widespread suffering of characters in a story become a pre-requisite for coolness?

I watched the first two episodes because I was curious. The art is really good and if I had a little girl I would make her watch it, that show teaches the right lessons.

I have no idea why anyone older than 12 watches the show. I suspect that most of you are just in to it because you think that you want to be part of something. Then again I did watch the first 25 episodes of Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z because it was such a train-wreck I just couldn't look away.

I'm lazy and I know far too many long and interesting words than is good for me, and I try to use them as often as I can.
When trying to write a book, this can be quite detrimental. And my handwriting sucks. Also I'm hugely lazy. Oh, and paranoid.
Ergo if and or when I actually CREATE my own creation I won't be putting it up online for a goodly while for fears of plagiarism and the like.

So for now I shall use a cool picture of a pony as my online representation. I use this current piccie on Steam too.
because you do not want to see my actual face. You would not sleep well again.

No, you see, ponies are totally different than anime/videogame/manga/comic avatars. Totally. Which is why it's okay to have anime/videogame/manga/comic avatars but not to have pony avatars.

Going by the definition, Fox isn't a cartoon.

Any more serious? Read the above lines, threats of death and torture. Also if you played the game you would realise how dark some of the dialogue is.
Dictionaries have multiple definitions for a reason.

Miriam Webster: A preparatory drawing, design, or painting.

So yeah, it is a cartoon. And even if you don't think your avatar is a cartoon because it's a 3-D model (2-D computer drawing of a theoretical 3-D object if we're getting technical, so a cartoon anyway), here:

Fox is now a cartoon.
So every 3D model in a game is now a cartoon? Your logic is flawed.

The character is not a cartoon.
This is a fox.

This is Fox.

Note the exaggerated features and anthropomorphism, both traits common in cartoons

That was your point, 3D models are cartoons, I never put words in mouths, I simply read your words.

I once again refer you to my previous post.
Uhhhh no, wrong again. This time you're taking partial quotes out of context.

Are you TRYING to do EVERYTHING you're not supposed to do to sound credible?

Full quote:

"even if you don't think your avatar is a cartoon because it's a 3-D model (which, if we're getting technical, it's actually a 2-D computer drawing of a theoretical 3-D object, so a cartoon anyway

It's not so the show as much as the fans (see: Portal)
while it's true that a good number are just normal people that like the show
it's ALSO true that there's a bunch that are annoying about it

mainly (at least I think) one of the things that ticks us off is when we're at school and they constantly say "Everypony" instead of "Everybody" or they're so obsessed over it that instead of sticking to the "fun day" that was planned (Quake LAN party) that instead they shut off all the computers to turn on episodes of MLP:FIM that they've already seen enough times to recite word for word

while the above is yes a personal thing, it's UBER-FANS like that, that tick us off, we don't care if you like MLP or have a MLP avatar, it's when you get worse then the people that yell "THE CAKE IS A LIE!" every 10 seconds that we get tired of the meme

in short: it's too far... not from you personally, but from other MLP fans... annoyingly too far

EDIT: when did this become a furry war involving starfox..?!
