People hate it because people will not shut up about it and will make pony meme references whenever they can. It's cute for the first week or so, started grating about the third or fourth week, and is just plain annoying by now.

If I have to choose between "why are everypony" and "y r every1" or other forms of degenerated English, I'll gladly pick the insertion of "pony" where it doesn't belong.

That said, I did personally stop saying things like "everypony" about a week or two after finishing season 1. It's cute and all when you're talking to other fans, but I don't see much use for it in regular conversation.

...

Okay, so this thread is keeping me up at 4:30 AM, and "inspired" me to put together another one of those image macros. I'll spare all of you non-bronies of it, though, and drop into the brony chat to post it instead.

Right.

It's a show. You watch a show and you like the show. That is all. There's no need to tell everyone about it all the time, spam fucking huge pictures in threads, constantly go on about how it doesn't make you gay, a paedophile or a sissy even though no one accused you of that or rabidly defend the show against criticism. You are also not a persecuted minority, you are some nerds that like a show. Honestly, bronies have managed to out-persecution complex furries, I shit you not!

All I want to do after a long day of being told that people who don't like the show are homophobic, insecure, right wing, christian or whatever is smack a ***** frankly. Watching a show doesn't make you unique, smart or special. You like a show and I don't fucking care.

No one fucking cares what shitty little show you watch because we're all nerds here, we ALL watch a shitty show no one cares about!
Um..Yeah, this is pretty much my feelings on this.
You like a Tv show. Congratu-fucking-lations. Nobody cares.

If I see someone with a MLP avatar I simply can't take them seriously.
Alright Mr. Cartoon fox in sunglasses.

How are those barrel rolls going for you?

:p
I will have you know Fox McCloud is the pinnacle of awesomeness and that he is not a cartoon.
In what way is it childish I ask you? They are going to save the freaking galaxy from a man who wants to watch them die, not childish at all.

You are taunted about how your father squealed before he died and how you were going to be tortured.

Childish?
Alright, try this on for size.

How would you feel if your own mother said "This isn't the (insert name here) that I love" convincing you that she doesn't love you anymore, or the thought that all your friends that you have done nothing but given to them don't want to be your friends anymore. Your so emotionally DESTROYED that you run away from home or go insane from your idea that YOU ARE NOT WANTED BY ANYBODY.

That is where Friendship is Magic is willing to go.

why i hate it:

animation looks cheap and like something done on flash (i have a thing against animations studios being cheap when shows like invader zim are animated in beautiful way and get canceled)

The show in the 80s was to sell us toys but everyone knew it was for small girls while this one exist just to leach off nostalgia.

the current show JUST FUCKING SUCKS in both writting and a animation...also character design but thats a given

it somehow turn a bunch of boys into a buch of damn sissies.

NO BODY SHUTS THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT!!!!

plus more but thats the top 5.
1. The animation is pretty good and sleek. But I guess it's just a matter of preferences.
2. Lol, no. I can tell you that most of the people that enjoy Friendship is Magic thinks that the older generations are utter shit. We don't speak of it. IT WAS TERRIBLE.
3. Character design, that's about preferences again. But the stories are well written, don't you say anything else. They're interesting, which is fucking hard to come by in modern cartoons.
4. They turn boys into damn sissies? That comment is bad, and you should feel bad. Looking at your avatar, I'm gonna make this rebuttal:
You know what? I hate Halo because it turns boys into annoying morons.
1. Still a very lame animation style that looks like flash.
2. I didnt say it was good, nut it at least it was decent enough hand drawn animation and wasnt quite as retarded S the current one
3. The characters are flat and one dimensional. Stories are not enough draw me in ( and i watched the damn care bears movies)
And its still just a way to cash in on an old brand and sell toys
4. Oh thanks, my friend drew that for me . And no, i dont feel bad its my fucking opinion and im sticking to it.
5. I would have just ignored the show with little to no thought to it until you 'bronies' ( at the risk of sounding homophobic, thats the gayest sounding name ive ever heard) started flooding the threads and forums with them on literally every website trying to get us to watch that stupid show to the point to where a bunch of us have nothing but contempt. for the show and tje annoying fan base that goes completely ape shit crazy over any critism.

The prosecution rest their case your honor.

We need an addition to the rules of the internet: If it exists, there will be ponies of it.
Oh we already have that. It's called the rules of the ponynet. There are a lot of rules.

This is my biggest problem with the haters.

Just because people watch shows with a young target audience doesn't make them pedophiles.

If I were to watch a show aimed at an elderly audience, would that mean I want to have sex with elderly people? No. And you wouldn't assume that it would either. You would think nothing of it. The media just saturates everybody's brain with fear of sex offenders and in return we get discrimination.

The only time I see Pony threads are when either HATERS or CURIOUS people make them. You guys WANT to hate on Ponies, so YOU bring it up. (the above statements are generalizations)
No, honestly I think most of you are in to something that I'm not and that's about it.

The reason I gave that as to why I don't like it's prevalence is because it is a tactic used by people of questionable morals as means to an end.

Same applies to adults in to Pokemon etc.

Twilight Sparkle is a bookish introvert and (despite being magically talented) a strong skeptic. Not used to having friends, she doesn't always know how to handle situations that come up, and things easily get awkward. That said, she's very organized and possesses some leadership qualities.

Rainbow Dash is a cocky and competitive tomboy. She's an athlete dreaming of joining her idols in a group of aerial performers. Behind the brash exterior, though, Rainbow hides performance anxieties brought on by being bullied in her youth.

Apple-- No, wait, actually... this post is getting long enough without me describing the rest of the ponies too.
That's just the shortest descriptions I could come up with without feeling I'd skipped something important, and I didn't even go into the whole Elements of Harmony thing. By American cartoon standards they have quite a lot to their personalities. (Heck, off the top of my head I couldn't come up with as much for the fricking Ninja Turtles.)

Im sorry but its a little hard to take any adult seriously who watches this show and acts like its a show for adults. Sure, I watch some kids shows. On a daily basis Im watching Danny Phantom and Penguins of Madagascar, but Im not wearing it proudly on my sleeve like a badge because Im a grown ass man, and like I said, Im also a furry, so Im used to going to cons and seeing sexual deviants, manchildren, social outcasts, and generally disturbing things (thank god for alcohol).

Everyone knows video games are just toys for little kids. Honestly I think it's pretty obvious that teens/adults who play video games are just sad, lonely, developmentally retarded shut-ins. Imagine if you devoted all that time and energy to something important, like football! Don't you know this computer games thing is just a fad that will blow over, and you'll be left with nothing but wasted time? If you don't believe me, just watch Fox News (the only news station that hasn't been bought out by corporate interests trying to push that poisonous hobby)!
Big difference is that the show isn't an entire artistic medium, there are games out there designed specifically for children as there are also cartoons designed for adults.

Im not hating on the show, I don't like it or this following it's gathered but when it comes down to it I don't give a damn about it, im just pointing out the obvious fallacy of your argument.
That's not my argument. It was probably a bit too subtle, but I wasn't comparing games to MLP. I was comparing the dismissive, generalising attitude some people have towards games to the dismissive, generalising attitude some people have towards MLP.

Basically, I think it's a very hypocritical attitude to condemn someone's hobby/interest based on sweeping generalisations when that's exactly what we as gamers try so hard to put a stop to.

"You're just watching MLP to fit in with the stupid internet fad" == "You're just playing video games because you're too meek to go outside and make friends"

Its quite simple, a couple weeks back every other thread would have pony pictures posted all over it. And by every other I mean enough for people to actually take notice of it and think "what the hell, stop cluttering up my page with pictures that signify nothing".
A couple of weeks ago?

And are you sure you aren't exaggerating a little bit? I have still yet to see proof of what you say too.
I'm not exactly sure on the time frame, its anyway from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, i'm not the type to remember the exact time.

If you're expecting me to go digging up the threads, go do it yourself. You asked for an explanation, that's my explanation.
"I made a claim, now you go and back it up for me."
That isn't how it works.

I never said it was a show for adults. Also...

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

It is if he asks for people's reasoning. You don't seem to get it, he asked for our explanation. We don't have to back it up, its what people have experienced that gets them to hate the pony meme.

And i'm not gonna go digging through threads as it could take hours as I don't know the timeframe because, and this is the good part, so pay attention.

I don't pay attention to things I don't like

A claim that isn't supported with evidence is worthless. It isn't a lot to ask to request for someone to substantiate their reasoning/claims.

And the evidence is there, for all to see. Just because I can't be arsed to go looking for it isn't going to make it disappear.

I'm not responding anymore anyway. This is getting ridiculous.

I tend to group Bronies and Furries into the same category as the aids of the internet. Personally, I don't see a difference between the two.

In reality, the true reason why I don't like it is because it is usually overly sensitive grown men that watch a little girl TV show. And being near an overly sensitive man is like sitting next to the ugly girl at prom.

Why is it invalid? He's not even cosplaying a character from the current show. That's a pony from G3 he's cosplaying. MLP:FiM is G4 and the different generations have nothing to do with each other except being about ponies.

Why do you use "adult" as a stamp of approval? Go read the quote Amphoteric sent you.
