I for one welcome our pachinko overlords...

Actually on second thought that is utterly stupid. #FucKonami

Don't know about begging him to stay with FucKonomi, personally I'd rather see him start up his own indie studio. FucKonomi is currently going through a slash'n'burn phase in which it's actively trying to destroy all the franchises it owns...I'd recommend to any employees working there that are still passionate about making games that they should get the fuck out of there, fast.

Am I the only one who thinks its Hideo Kojima's own fault he got fired?

Konami is not Ubisoft/EA level of rich and big. Making 2 big games in the form of MGS 5 and probably Silent Hills? And both game had celebraty backing? (The guy from 24 in MGS5 and the guy from Walking Dead in PT) and both games developing in the sametime and using that obviously expensive FOX Engine and hiring Guillermo del Toro?

Clearly a sign of overbudgeting and Konami cannot afford both things.

Honestly, I'm fine with an end to Metal Gear.
My problem is that Konami still owns the rights to Boktai, so Kojima can't work on it like he should.

Still, the idea of the Metal Gear series coming to a definitive end...
Yeah, I think it is kinda sad that it still belongs to Konami. I would play more "Metal Gear Platinum" but if we remember what horrid things they did to Silent Hill... Pachinko is the least worrying thing the can come up with.

Mmm, can't wait for Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Erotic Action - coming to a pachinko parlor near you!

If they cannot afford such things [edit][a href="http://www.polygon.com/2015/5/5/8557807/pt-silent-hills-demo-pulled"] PT should never of been removed from play.[/a][/edit]

My understanding is that they really do make a fortune from their Pachinko machines however.

So, the day before MGS5's release we will hear that Kojima's called up his old buddies in the Seals and they've stormed the building, thrown the board down the garbage chute and the company is now known as Kojami.

It wouldn't surprise me.

It turns out MSF is real and at one point Kojima really was a member after they found him in the back of a truck in Costa Rica.

You do know that Konami makes enough money on Pachinko machines to make the profits from its video game branch look like chump change right?

I seriously doubt this is a case of Konami not being able to afford MGS5 and Silent Hill because they obviously can. If it was then Konami would at least be partially to blame for green lighting projects that were obviously going to be expensive from the very beginning.

Also if hiring the guy from Walking Dead for PT was too costly then why did they release PT for free in the first place? This is the same company that charged $30 for Ground Zeroes, its not like they are above this sort of thing.

When you combine the fact they already make a lot of money from Pachinko machines with the news and rumors about Konami's reshuffling, it seems more likely that Konami is just plain greedy, not poor.

Any chance that the Konami CEO can get canned? Or is it a nepotism scenario where he's king for life?

I like to know just how profitable is gambling and pachinko are in Japan alone?

How much money can be made from Pachinko in Japan alone compared to the most highest selling games ever internationally?

And yes I think Konami is not that rich compared to EA and Ubisoft. Konami does not have studios in other countries. They don't have a "Konami Montreal" or "Konami LA"

And looking at Budgets the highest Budget Konami game they ever made until now was MGS 4 and thats already eclipsed by games that already pushed the limit.

<quote=Grey Carter>"...let's be honest, there are very studios in the world that wouldn't hire Hideo Kojima on the spot."

Wow. such Kojima. Very studios.

-------------------------------------------

Jokes aside, are we sure that he's that much of a commodity? Koge is great and all, but according to an interview (that I'll see if I can find), while one of the reasons he left was partly because Konami is basically a jail cell, there's also the idea that apparently Koge is such an outrageously expensive developer, and that couldn't have helped. "A very good creative mind, but not very good business sense" the lady said. Would other companies be more willing to toss endless amounts of money at him for his visions to be realized?

EDIT*
Found it! Thanks Google. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1085348

Let me make it clear that I'm not defending Konami. Hell, I for one kinda feel like money being no object and being absurdly hard to please usually leads to a better game. That said, realistically, while having his name attached to them sounds great on paper to any business, I wonder if they'll be any more comfortable with his conditions than Konami were.

First off the link you posted is 404 nothing.

Secondly I remember hearing about hosting a demo in Sony's services cost a fee so of course they don't want to keep the demo up there forever.

What if Kojima's mind is nothing more than an elaborate pachinko machine, which lead to Konami's thinking that their "pachinko plan" was their next logical step in "honor" of Kojima's own mind?

Anyway, I'm sure Del Toro would be keeping an eye on Kojima the same way Kojima's Metal Gear would spy on Del Toro... metaphorically speaking, I think...

I am sorry. This is completely Off-Topic but I just have to say it. Caramel Frappe I've noticed your extravagant profile pictures for quite a while but I really have to congratulate you for your great taste in this one. You choose the BEST series this time!
Good Job!

Such things can be fixed in post.

Anyway, yeah it kind of such that the Metal Gear IP is to be left with FucKonami, but at least Kojima won't have to be stuck with those jackasses anymore.
Also, he and Del Toro said they still want to work together, so we may still get that Hills game under a different name.

Best of luck to Kojima and his team, and fuck Konami.

I'd imagine the reason they haven't turned a game franchise into a pachinko machine is because it's not as popular outside Japan.

If it was, they would do it. Lets not forget what they did to Dungeon Keeper. ;p
