I own a punching bag for when I am angry. So that usually takes care of things. But when I fall into a sort of depression I usually sleep alot, and it just kind of subsides it for me until I get over it. Something about depression fatigues me when I have nothing to do, and I just sleep.

But apart from that, when I'm frustrated or angry or whatever, I love to listen to death metal, hit my punching bag, or train (martial arts). That usually helps. Lets me zone out.
I guess it's not healthy to vent aggression. Apparently it can lead to a subconscious tendency to vent aggression no matter the situation, making people who do so much more prone to outbursts and even physical abuse.

Then again, you are a martial artist, so you've got a bit more discipline when it comes to feelings.

Yeah, I've never really used angry aggression in the martial arts. Just controlled, tactical stuff. My hitting a punching bag just centers me. Its like a form of active meditation, not me just standing there smashing it like a beast.

I'm actually very relaxed most of the time anyways. It takes alot to get me angry or upset at all. And as I've gotten older, I've learned to take things in stride better and better.

Not only does taking things in stride really help your own mental condition, but it really pisses off people who are trying to provoke you/make you angry.

Well first of all I would like to thank you sir for creating this nice, peaceful thread to counterbalance all the depressing negative threads that have been floating around. And since I'm pretty tired right now I'm gonna say that sleeping relaxes me. Since it does. Also, something I do before going to sleep that I'm not gonna mention right now (masturbation joke). Well, it's true.

welltheres a number of things I currently do, and a few I used to until I gave them up or got to poor to do.

Currently I listen to music, write, create a D&D chracter w/background, whistle to the zelda songs song of storms FTW, and take a shower. Oh or cook, very poorly, I love to cook, but I suck I really do.

Two things I used to do, first hit things wallls, my punching bag until I got pissed and took a metal bar to it and ripped it in half, and second cannabis, yes illigal, but I stopped a few years back. I'll admit though it reallly worked, but it would have killed my aspirations of being a medical personel in any US hospital.

And I'm almost always doing one of those things, I hate always being stressed, even if i do nothing I'm stressed, because I'm always thinking. anyway, rants = banstick, so no rant.

I usually listen to music. nothing calms me like the downtempo lo fi sounds of bonobo or throwing joe satriani's self titled jazzy album(can he do no wrong in any genre), hell even listening to yngwie or carol of the bells by trans siberian helps. and If I ain't listening to it, I'm jamming to it on guitar.

Then of course there are video games which depending on my mood I'll play for chilling out(morrowind or okami for good moods, mortal kombat or Psi ops(suck TK fools!) other times)

It completely depends on my mood, if something's happened that I'm angry I like to either play GTA, Mercenaries 2, or Smackdown vs. Raw or go for a nice run to take my frustrations out.

If I'm in a good mood or am just bored nothing is more relaxing than making a new playlist on my iTunes...

I play music from my zune on my xbox and switch it over to the nifty rainbow/trippy music mixer thing. Got to love that thing man - more love if on acid though.

I draw, listen to my calming music, or read a book. This week's book was assigned by my English class; Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

I play games to relax a lot of the time, or simply read a book. When doing either I'll listen to music. I find that it's absolutely impossible to be anything other than chilled if you're listening to reggae. That stuff is distilled chill-out essence, injected directly through music.
