EDIT: The point is why are these on the escapist, and not somewhere else.

If someone posted an abortion issue topic on say, yahoo, they would want a mixed opinion of all sorts of people, from eighty year old racists to 11 year old emos.

But if they post it here they are looking for the opinion of Gamers and only gamers. Although we may have differences in opinion, we are all gamers.

I guess im just a re-re.
And for someone claiming to be mature, you should lay off the insults and sarcasm.

You are wrong if you think this website is only for gamers.

Who else is it for? (calm down dude, its cool)

If we talked about games and gaming all the time, we'd be very boring people. Instead, we talk about all sorts of random shit because we're a community of (more or less) likeminded people who like to engage in discourse. Gaming is our commonality and our passion, but it's not all that there is to any of us. Hell, if I ran through the full list of things which I wouldn't mind getting into a good conversation on, you'd get bored and leave LONG before I ran out of material.

So yeah, this is a gaming forum--but all that that means is that we're all gamers here. Sure, some of the topics that show up here don't make much sense to me, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be here. At the end of the day, though, the Escapist wouldn't exist without gaming, so it's not like we're in danger of losing that part of the community unless something really, REALLY weird happens.

Did you know the Escapist has multiple forums? One is gaming discussions and another is off-topic discussion. There is even a Forum Games and RP section! It's amazing!

Not to be rude dude, but yeah there are separate forums for each type of discussion the most recent posts thingy gives the most recent posts from all the forums (I think) not just the gaming forum.

This is still a gaming site with a gaming forum within it. Off-topic just happens to be another forum on the site. I myself live mostly in the Forum Games and RP section he mentioned.

There's an Off Topic section and a separate Gameing section for a reason.

It's freedom, my friend. People can't concentrate on only one subject - that's not a fulltime social activity. Just relax, nobody makes you read those or reply to them. I have fun, it's refreshing to see something else among the gaming topics, although I do agree that the gaming gets less and the drama more, but... whatever, I'm having fun with it. ^^

hey i would like to make a wonderful point: even though i am [insert subculture name here] does not mean i don't think about [insert subculture] related things at all times. thats where there are the gaming forum pages and then there *EVERY FREAKING THING ELSE* to examine on the site including forum pages for everything else because life gets dull when you stick to one thing
