However, if source code was released, I might be curious to check it out from a technical standpoint, assuming the comments are left there, otherwise it's really worthless, since it's identical to something you that's run through a disassembler.
You have never seen what a disassembler produces have you? (as it is never much like the actual code).

There are massive differences between the actual code and raw output (for a number of technical reasons I won't bother going in to).

It would be like reading a book where all the character's, object's and place's names had been removed (confusing and lacking many required subtle nuances).

This is why PC gaming is getting the short end of the stick. Well, not this exactly, but things similar to this makes publishers realize PC gaming isn't worth the trouble.

Fucking pirates ruining everything for everyone. Illegal downloads and oil tanker hijackings.

Because console piracy doesn't exist, right?

Would love it if it was actually a trap. Removed frame rate caps to burn out the pirates video cards like in early SC2, trying to save your progress maxes your computers memory, anything else. Something that would damage the computers used to play the pirated copy.

I am sure it does exist, but I have never heard of a console exclusive getting leaked on the internet a month before released.

Aprently from the youtube'd vids I've seen you play as prophet. Further making me go WTF happened when they whent back to the island. Have I missed something?

I'm still going to grab a copy around day 0 other releases permitting me the time. A payed copy mind you.
It's not really a spoiler since it's the start of the story. You do not play prophet, you play some standard marine (he's also a mute, complete non-character unlike nomad or sykes). The difference is, you're playing IN prophet's suit, since he's been pwned by alienz and needs you to deliver the plot device (vaccine or something, unimportant tbh). Since it's a full-body suit, not many people know that it's not prophet in it though.

This sucks, but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be. It may push the release back a bit, and of course, new security would probably have to be coded.

There is no reason this should somehow prevent them releasing future PC titles. The fact is, I have seen leaked versions of console game up to a month before the actual release. I have a buddy who is playing MvC3, as we speak, he has had it all weekend. My one buddy had a copy of the movie 300 almost a month before it was released in theatres.

It sucks, but no reason to be so dramatic. They'll deal with it. And we will all get to honestly play Crysis 2 in no time at all.

I doubt this would affect killzones sales ,its fairly more difficult to pirate on ps3 than any other console.
OT: PC sales for Crysis 2 are f-ed ,even if it is unfinished ,full of bugs and glitches ,you can basicly complete the campaign with minor hiccups and play it online. I wonder who leaked it and why ,at least it wasnt xbox360 version ,that would kill sales completely.

Who cares, people were still gonna pirate the final game.
This shouldn't damage the reputation of the final game for any gamer unless you are a fucking retard that doesn't understand that this is a buggy old beta build.

You can't squeeze orange juice out of a lemon, that goes for the anti-piracy hoes.

What? A developer is pissed that their game's code was leaked? I'm totally surprised.

All sarcasm aside, that really sucks. Crytek does good work and they deserve the money that they're going to lose. It will also suck when Crytek implements a complicated DRM system that will be a pain-in-the-ass for paying customers, and will be cracked by pirates in a few days. It's bad for all sides but the pirates themselves. :-(

Even though I'm a PC gamer I would understand if Crytek doesn't release Crysis 3 on PC. This is outrageous.
You say that as if console games can't be pirated.

Haha, this community is so dramatic. I checked it out at my friends house, it's definitely not all that wonderful. Some of the Character models don't work, the NPC's will be running around and shooting, but they are like statues and don't move at all. The gun shot sound is completely messed up and sounds like muted crackling speakers. Really, this made me only want the final product all the more because it seems like it's awesome, and will be even more awesome when everything works.

And... this leak will not prevent the game from selling. In all reality, if someone would settle for this product, they are dumb asses anyway. It drives me insane when people think that just because someone has a pirated copy of a game they aren't going to buy it. The fact is, pirated software is annoying. If you want to make life hard for pirates, actually update and fix your product. Haha, that is the sole thing that makes Magicka worth buying over pirating, the fact that they release an update a day, and the price is right of course. Another crazy innovation that has been around since PC gaming, that would make the game harder to pirate, is dedicated server support for multiplayer. I can't remember the last time I heard of someone playing a pirated copy of Left4Dead or Bad Company 2, online.

It is not difficult to pirate PS3 games at all. And you can still play them online, there is already a work around for the newest firmware. You can also play the 360 online fairly easily. Piracy isn't the problem with this industry, it's the industries aversion to it that is basically messing it up. Because they "may" sell less copies of a product, they create draconian DRM that pisses off paying customers. You cannot control what other people can and will do, but you can control how you react to it, and they react very poorly. I'm against piracy as far as I don't do it, but I can't tell other people what they can't do, because what I think doesn't matter. Neither can the industry, because what they think doesn't matter either. They will not stop making games because no matter how much their creations get pirated, some companies still net over $1 Billion a year (EA Games). If they decided to not release Crysis 2 on the PC, then they would only shoot themselves in the foot. I've said it a million times, kindergarten politics hurts everyone, and least of all the people who it's aimed at.

Everyone who's played the multiplayer beta demo can attest it was pretty shitty. As far as I can see the attest that it was shitty was pretty universal and loud. My spidersense is tingling, I smell a conspiracy! :p

Seriously though, the fact that I'm not really tempted to download it after playing the demo is telling. While the game has so much going for it at first glance.

Flood the torrent sites with convincing fakes while there is still time. That should lessen the damage slightly.
Actually, this would probably derail a LOT of potential pirate.

When I downloaded cracked PSP games, this used to irritate the hell out of me.

After a long wait, nothing hurt more than seeing your download come up as "HAHA YOU'VE BEEN HAD"!

Someone should get right on this.
