(GOD-DAMN IT for once I didn't copy all the text in my post before clicking post, and it failed to upload my thread so I'm typing this out for the second time! grrr)

I was just wondering why, when we click report, there is no prompt asking if we're sure we want to report the post or a pop-up giving us a selection of things to choose from to report the person for?

the reason I ask this is because I just had a bit of a blonde moment, I meant to add someone as a friend or something but I accidentally reported him instead. oops.

I'm sure this happens a lot, and the way I see it giving some sort of prompt would only be a good thing, it would discourage people from reporting someone purely out of spite, from not agreeing with their opinion or such and it would allow the reported posts to be shown in ascending order from worst rule breakers to minor offences, i.e. moderators could review posts reported for containing porn before reports of people posting short comments in a ZP review or something ridiculous

so yeah just wondering why we don't have this feature?

( I'm sure this happens a lot - or maybe i should think more carefully before clicking!)

People just need to think before using that big shiny "REPORT" button. But then again, if it's not offensive, then I guess the mod's won't act on it. Everybody makes mistakes.

I reported myself once, sent a PM to Wilson and he laughed at me (aswell as answering my question) I deserved it though.

I guess because it would dis-courage people to report, as they would have to go through an long and boring process.

the way i see it it would only involve a pop up coming up with a choice of 5 or so boxes, tick one, click report and that's it

Don't worry, no one gets in trouble if you report them and they didn't do anything wrong!

Because the moderators here are smart enough to understand the reasoning behind the reporting of a post. And also read it. Big plus after some of the sites I've been to.

I heard the report system is anonymous.
Is this truth?

It is anonymous in that the person/post that you just reported does NOT KNOW that you reported them. We, of course, know who the report came from. And no, we don't tell them.

Yes, if someone has a yellow name, they have the power of lightning and thunder. They also have the power of ponies... so... yeah.

Bah, lighting and thunder, that's common, but the power of ponies, that is a force to be feared.

A small pop-up would be nice, but it's only real function would be to help the moderators to categorize reported posts. They don't seem to need to do that(unless they're keeping it a secret) so this option seems unnecessary. Also, it would involve more work and coding and testing, and I doubt if they'll do that for unless it's really necessary.
