God, I guess I really am the only person who actually really liked RE6... Granted, I don't think it's as amazing as 2, the REmake, or 4, but it's still a damn good game in it's own right. I'd be for the idea of a reboot like some are saying, but I want at least one more game to finish the damn story. Yes, I love RE's story, and I'm not ashamed of that. I want complete closure to the series, tying up every loose end and giving all the characters proper send offs. Then they can reboot it, but not before.

"Broaden focus"
"Narrow focus"

I liked things better when they were just making the games, man.

They really should just give up on the horror part at this point, Resident Evil is more ridiculous than anything anymore.

Wesker has super powers and Chris can punch boulders, there is no going back to horror.

Just use Leon again because he's the best character you guys have created and make another RE4 set in, I dunno, Transylvania maybe, fight zombie Dracula. co-publish with Konami and team up with the Belmonts or some shit.
"Ashley, a daddy's girl. Sherry, a girl with daddy issues. Trapped in a skyscraper with a horde of flesh eating abominations.

"Can they survive one hundred and eight stories of terror? Can they survive each other?

"Resident Evil... OVA'KILL!!

"Rated X for full frontal goregasm."

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Perhaps they could just focus on making a good game instead of trying to solve the riddle of what market tested ideas can appease the largest percentage of the gaming audience.

Says the series who cried, "survival horror". Getting harder and harder to believe you, Capcom.

As a side note, Resident Evil 2 worked with 2 different characters and 4 ways to play so the multiple story line route isn't fundamentally a problem.
True. But the way they handle the multiple perspectives in RE2 was MUCH better. Whichever of the two scenarios you were playing, Leon's story and Claire's story both took place during the same time and in the same setting, whereas in Resident Evil 6 the location and time period jumped back and forth and all over the place. The tone was never consistent either, changing depending on which character pairs you were playing as, while in RE2 Leon and Claire may meet different characters and face different obstetrical, but the overall tone was still "Oh shit, you're stuck in a city full of zombies... Get out of there!"

Speaking of Claire... For the love of god Capcom! Give Claire more love! She's my absolute favorite RE character! She feels like the only one who has actual personality and hasn't boarded the Dark and Brooding train.

I want to see a remake of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis with RE4 gameplay and today graphics DAMIT! is it so hard to do that Capcom!....

I liked RE4, being honest.....I enjoyed RE 5 a lot, playing it in co-op was great, just not scary..... Revelations is cool..... Yeah I'll wait and see what Capcom can pull with RE7 , I just don't wan to see more Chris for the love of God I hate that prick, what about Jill? Claire?.... Rebeca?........ ?

I actually liked Resident Evil 6 for what it was, as I found it no less silly than any other entry in the franchise, but I'm not going to sneeze at them making the next game more in-line with the superior Revelations. The only problem is that I'm not sure where the franchise is going to go from here. It'd be nice to see Barry again...

I still reserve a great deal of hatred for Capcom over their treatment of Mega Man these last few years, and while I think it's great that Capcom wants to listen to their core audience for once, I also have a hard time empathizing with a certain fan base that did their best to quash a reboot of a particular franchise before they even had the chance to play it. That particular reaction was unnecessarily harsh and ruined it for those of us that actually had fun with it.

Resident Evil is going to become Capcom's Sonic. They'll keep making games of the franchise, but none of them will be good anymore as the already dead, then zombified, then killed again, horse get's beaten to an unrecognizable mass of shattered bones and goo the consistency of stringy mashed potatoes.

Let me put it this way, since I started watching anime, I've realized that many things are only good if they know when to end. Using a particularly egregious example in live TV, Burn Notice. The first few seasons were pretty alright. Doing odd jobs while trying to advance an overarching plot. That only lasts for so long before everything just starts seeming utterly contrived, a desperate attempt to squeeze more money out of an IP that should have been resolved by now, but shambles on because new shows are harder to make than new seasons.

Giving fans what hey want huh?. Brace for a crappy reboot in which Leon is a half dick and a half head with a profanity spewing mouth. Why yes I am talking about DmC.

Good show Capcom. Lesson well learnt. Just make sure you're not confusing "horror" with "thriller" and you'll be fine.

I'm not sure if you heard the news, but people generally consider Sonic to be good again, and it's been that way for a few years now. We could only hope that Resident Evil or Mega Man would pull a Sonic.

Overall I feel like Capcom has been missing the point for years. Canning Mega Man and only featuring him in the most patronizing ways in its other games, redesigning Dante just because, skipping a localization of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 due to backlash from the flaws of 1 (flaws that 2 generally fixed!), and making a ton of Resident Evil games that misunderstand why the past installments worked. There were already signs that 5 was going in the wrong direction.

It seems like only fighting game fans are getting what they want, and even they had to deal with horrible PR with regards to Ultimate editions and whether or not things would be available as DLC updates or if they had to purchase a new game. It might be the only industry where Capcom takes fan feedback seriously.

Put your money where your mouth is, Capcom. If you invest even half o what you did on RE6 in good faith that survival horror is what the fans of a survival horror franchise want, maybe i'll look in your direction one of these days. But no, of course not, this is a Charleston we've all danced a few too many times before. PR isn't worth diddly these days.

I feel like the damage has been done...

Revelations (on 3DS) was good, but not in terms of story or characters...and Capcom has squeezed every ounce of juice out of the RE4 style by now so ANOTHER RE4 style game would be pushing it pretty far...

They need to do something new for RE if they want anyone to play it, if you ask me...
But to be honest, have Capcom ever made a RE game with a good story? It really isn´t an essential part of the series.

Why does there even need to be a Resident Evil 7?
What good will milking an already barren cow do?
Let the property rest. Capcom obviously has no clue what to do with it anyway. It's not like any of the previous games, barring 4, were any good to begin with.

Going farther back, the series has never really been 'horror' to begin with, being scared goes out the window the second you arm the characters with weapons.
I don´t know about that, a game like Silent Hill 2 is pretty damn scary, even though you have an arsenal powerful enough to destroy anything standing in your way.

While I don't like RE since 4 which already had too much action for my taste, making them shooters kinda makes more sense from story perspective. In first few games you were alone or with untrustworthy team in middle of nowhere and zombies were surprise. Now it's what, years since zombies first appeared so you would expect everyone carrying a gun. Still I'll be glad if they return back to adventure style gameplay.

"Guys, (game) sucked, but (game)+1 will be (address most common complaint here)"

It's like someone wrote a PR-algorithm.

Resident Evil 6 was a good game gameplay-wise, it contained a satisfying blend of over-the-shoulder shooting combined with some entertaining melee finishers whose take-down animations were varied, contextual and had an appropriate length so as to not break the flow of combat. In addition to the dodging mechanics, it allowed for just as much tactical input and evading maneuvers as Shinji Mikami's Vanquish and the game was at its best when it gave you enough room to flex out your muscles and apply a diverse range of strategies for crowd control regardless of how brain dead most enemies were.

No wonder the most engrossing sections of the campaign were the Mercenaries mode and the excellent sprawling hangar level by the end of Chris' story that I swear must have been designed by a different team. It threw everything at you hoping you had mastered the controls and knew how to make use of the right tactics in order to overcome a challenge, it was at the moment I felt the game was letting go of my hand. It felt like an earned victory.

Resident Evil 6 ? and some people are going to disagree with this statement ? wasn't a bad game, it just had some shitty level design that went for claustrophobic environments as opposed to mini open areas with some mix of exploration and scavenging.

The lack of a cohesive tone didn't bother me so much since RE has turned into a parody of itself when it comes to the story department, I now have stopped caring about how ridiculous it all sounds even by the standards of a B type movie.

That's too bad because the B.O.W. arc is a rather interesting concept, the idea of biological warfare by deploying inhuman beings from the 666th circle of Hell into conflict zones around the world is a nice progression for the series.

Also, bring back the save room themes, those songs were hauntingly beautiful.
