Return to the Mansion With Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition

The Resident Evil 5: Gold Editon will send Jill and Chris to Ozwell E. Spencer's mansion, which is filled with zombies, secrets, and cranks.

If you haven't already heard about Resident Evil 5's upcoming expansion packs, here's the deal. The Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition was announced for Japan at the Tokyo Game Show 2009, which includes a spattering of new content. Capcom put it up for a vote whether the new content would come to other regions via disc only, or through DLC, and DLC won out. Capcom will also be releasing a physical disc called the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition in both North America and Europe, but only for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as of yet (sorry PC gamers).

The first DLC pack, called Lost in Nightmares, will hit Xbox Live Arcade on February 17, 2010, and the PlayStation Network on February 18, 2010. This pack is reminiscent of the days of the original Resident Evil, and will put players in the shoes of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they explore the catacombs beneath Ozwell E. Spencer's hideaway mansion, and hopefully end the business with all the cranks and emblems.

The second DLC pack will be released on March 3, 2010, for the Xbox 360 and on March 4, 2010, for the PlayStation 3. Microsoft must have paid Capcom off handsomely to get these one-day exclusives. This pack hasn't been named and no details are currently available, but it'll have something in it, something evil, and zombies or similar slow moving enemies may be involved.

Capcom is including its "Mercenaries Reunion" content along with each pack, which will include 8 new characters, costumes, and weapon load-outs. Strangely enough, only two characters will be included with each DLC pack, while all 8 will be available in the retail Gold Edition. If you don't have the internet, or don't own Resident Evil 5 yet, the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be available in North American stores on March 9, 2010 for $49.99, and the European release will follow on March 12.

"What's with this guy and cranks?"

Awesome line, at least Resident Evil know not to take thenselves seriously anymore. Although I think that started around RE4.

OP: Sold my copy of RE5 so I won't be playing it.

Unless there's a level where you savagely murder Sheva Alomar with your bare hands, I refuse to pay capcom twice for a game they could have made right the first time.

"Psychiatrist's Diary- Patient: Evil, Resident

Patient still refuses to accept and resolve current personality flaws. Has begun reminiscing about earlier glories and is indulging in old vices, but is becoming ever more self-referential, almost sarcastic in tone. I fear a lapse into cartoonish behavior. I will continue to recommend critical self-examination, acceptance of past sins, and a better control scheme."

Now to wait for the PC guys to storm in, waving their flags and shouting about how they get the blunt end of everything again...

Anyway, i think i'll pickup the gold edition myself, i've not brought a resident evil game yet.

If gold edition contains the original game, then I'll definately pick it up. If not, well I did the smart thing and waited for it to find its way into the bargain bin, so I'm set.

Usually it's how DLC means a game is incomplete, and that DLCs should be free. I bet that's Mr. Eff's source of hatred. Free stuff, ah how I loathe thee.

Can't wait. I'm sure the new campaign is much more worth my money than the multiplayer was....

5 dollars I'll never get back.

bawwing will commence in 3.....2.......1.........

but unless I can run AND shoot at the same time, I doubt I will bother to even look at it, maybe the second un-named DLC pack, but only that, just a look.
why we had to wait 6 months for res 5 to come out anyway

I loved resident evil: 4 on the computer, even thought it was one of the worst porting jobs I have ever seen (quicktime events are really hard when you have to remember which keyboard key is mapped to the '3' button). I was thinking of getting resident evil 5 but I like the sounds of gold edition so i will almost definitely be getting it.

I didn't get RE5 because I knew it wouldn't match up to RE4. But this gold edition I'll give a look see and maybe I'll pick it up. Might be close enough to smooth over my need for a good RE4 squeal.

Microsoft offers new content all the time. New Rock Band songs come out on Tuesday.

Sony only updates on Thursday.

Since when has Resident Evil been a PC game anyway?
