Hmmmm. Well I actually bothered to play the game myself. And found a most charming game indeed. It's no Super Mario Galaxy 2. But what is? But I found Mickey easy to control and while yes, the Camera was a little annoying at first. It didn't take long before it was merely a little niggle. Hell, I found the camera on this to be more co-operative than certain games (Uncharted 2 and Prince of Persia.)

I think this is one of the games where people were so hyped up for it (especially when we saw the concept Art.) yet it didn't manage to be perfect.

The problem is I'm still likely to pick this up if only for all the Triva Porn like Oswald. I recognized him when my mother didn't. Playing this, while a challenge, might just prep me for that "Dusty Disney Vault" category on Jeopardy.

Anything from "Song of the South" in the game by chance?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
reviews for this seem to be all over the place, some people just dont like it, some say it gets better, and some say the flaws are over exaggerated, Ill probably get it at some point but money is tight right now so it will have to wait

Increase the rating a bit if you're a Disney freak like me and are likely to squee whenever you get a pin.

Wow. I also read reviews from X Play (G4TV.com) and they gave Epic Mickey 5/5.

Starting to think that between these written reviews and Zero Punctuation's reviews, this site is a lot better at analyzing games then X Play is.

X Play has begun catering to the big game companies and always saying that their games are great without really diving into them. Then a new game company with a fresh idea comes along and X Play says it sucks. Hmmmm...

Given the game's lack of connection between action and result, the typo of "causal gamers" at the end was rather amusing.

That's the thing though, I don't look at scores. I've always read/listened to the reviews themselves to determine if I'll like the game. For example, if the story is great but the camera is wonky, I know I can forgive it where some others can't.

It's funny because my best friend is all about the Meta-critic and Rotten Tomatoes.

Also, pins? What do they do that causes the squeeing?

I didn't literally mean rating, just that you'll likely enjoy the game a bit more if you're all about the Disney.

As for the pins, they're a big collectible both in the game and at the Disney parks: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/context-sensitive/6411-Context-Sensitive-Playing-the-MMMMG

Why'd you give it 3/5 stars? You spend the whole review talking about how it isn't fun at all.
Imho the escapist give too kind ratings (exception for Zero punctuation).

The game´s graphics, art style and story setting look very cool (except I don't like Mickey as a main character but I guess there's none else). Just too bad it's bad then.

And the reason I would never buy it is that it was on the Wii. OF COURSE it would be bad. The Wii controls suck and any game without classic controller support is more than likely not going to be good.

I missed that when you did it. Oh God, oh dear sweet God. Someday I will have a kid, I will take him there and s/he will be the legit exploit to help get Dad that collection of "Instruction Video Goofy's"

How else was I supposed to learn to ski, or exercise, or drive?

Crap, and I was really looking forward to this too. This was one of the games that I was hoping would make me buy a Wii. Oh well.

Reviews are all over the place for this one. Sounds to me like Warren Spector got too carried away with creating the ultimate Disney nerdgasm and overlooked the core gameplay a bit too much. I read another review that compared Epic Mickey to Psychonauts, and I feel that's the best analogy to use here.

It's a shame, really.

The happiest place on Earth spawns the most frustrating game on the Wii.
Even more frustrating than Okami? That's quite a claim. Okami almost had my Wii Remote going through my TV, not because of letting go of the remote while bowling, but because of rage so hard I'd never experienced it before and haven't experienced it since.
