Ya know, I can't take a review or critic seriously when the reveier makes it sound like a monotonous chore that they are being paid to do instead of having passion for it. Honestly I couldn't pay much attention to the review because the voice sounded so monotonous.

Nice review. With the inevitable hype that will generated by the release of the next film, I may have to get this.

Also, Gryffindor scarf? Hah. Ravenclaw is the best.

As a fan of both Lego and Harry Potter (yes I'm a child at heart!) this game really appealed to me and was incredibly fun to play. I love the humour and it manages to mix things up while still very much keeping the spirit of Harry Potter. Who knew collecting Lego studs could be so addictive?

I really want to like this game, I love the lego games having played through all the others multiple times to 100% completion. It's fun, uses the characters and setting wonderfully and doesn't suffer from the gameplay problems that the first Lego Indiana Jones game had, all in all a great family game.
Why didn't I like it? Well it is buggy, not just slightly buggy in a "whOOOaa the camera is zooming into the stratosphere" or "ooops my console is freezing or reseting", those I can just about live with.
Game killing glitches that make it impossible to continue are a different matter and when you find at least 3 different glitches on different consoles that don't allow you to complete the game you have to wonder why this wasn't delayed longer. Do a search and look for yourselves, stories of various glitches are all over the place and you have instances of the same problem on different consoles.
Anybody who want to buy this should be warned to save their money, what could have been a great game,(easily the best of the Lego games) is reduced to an annoying waste of money.

I downloaded the PC demo and tried to play it but none of the character models show up, even after I downloaded the newest drivers for my aging video card which is still above the minimum requirements. It kind of annoys me and I'm hoping that when I get to upgrade my machine in a few months that problem will go away because this game does look quite fun.

Really, what troubles did you encounter? Apart from the collision issues I mentioned in the review, I didn't have any problems at all. What version were you playing?

you know, i'd love to see them branch out with the lego games, like making games based on painters, or other games. Lego Carmageddon anyone?

Hardly. Slytherin all the way!

The game looks fun; then again, I love anything to do with HP. I've never played a Lego game before, so this should be interesting.

I bought the game the other week and can quite honestly say its an incredible game. The detail is second to none! They noticed that JK Rowling said in an interview that moaning Myrtle was a Ravenclaw so they put her in Ravenclaw robes. Fantastic.

And some of the puzzles are quite hard, which is suprising considering that it is, at heart, a kids game. Its incredibly fun though, and frustrating in the way that makes you want to keep trying. There are a few bugs, characters getting stuck, moving at the wrong time in one player. Also there are a lot of characters to unlock but a lot of them are just characters with differebt clothes. However the amount of things too do in the game make it incredibly fun and worth the money... buy it!

True about the characters in other costumes, but I was happy to have Harry in his Christmas sweater. :)

Can't say enough good things about this game. Actually all Lego games are pretty awesome. My 5 year old gamer ( this kid was born a gamer!) aced this one. Finished it in a week and had a blast doing it.

Thanks to Lego for creating games both kids and adults can enjoy.

Played the demo the other day... I enjoyed it. I thought it was plenty funny especially the part where Voldermort was chasing a Unicorn with a Knife and Fork. Will I get the game though... Probably not, don't really have the money. However my cousin will end up getting the game and I just pinch it off him when he's done.

Would you rate this game higher, lower, or about the same level as the other Lego games?
On par with Lego Star Wars, better than Lego Indy, I didn't play enough of Lego Batman to truly form a good opinion, but the fact that I got bored with Lego Batman probably answers the question for you right there. Of course, much of one's personal enjoyment with the games comes from their personal love of the source material. If you like Batman more than Harry Potter, you may prefer that game over this one simply because you're having fun recognizing the characters.

I see. It is more of did you like the stuff the game is make some light pokes at rather then the game itself. The games are basically the same on most core mechanics (the force is strong in the magical ones) with different skins, so it is mostly which skin you like best.

Pretty much. Lego Indy was actually fairly broken (the first one, that is - I didn't play the second), which is it why it's the worst of the bunch. Also, Indy has really crappy secondary characters, which only makes sense, given that he's meant to be the hero.

I'm very sorry for my terribly tardy reply, I'm afraid I have been unable to use my computer recently, I hope that you can excuse me and get to read this.
So far apart from the minor glitches that 4 other people that I know who have the game over all three consoles such as characters getting trapped, items and characters not appearing, crashes that force a reset or even just reset the console and whole areas of scenery failing to appear,(my brother was most amused by this one, he went through a door in Hogwarts and entered a room that was nothing but an expanse of grey nothingness). 3 of us have been trapped under Prof. Flitwicks room, a dragon is supposed to throw you up and out of the room, but in many cases you just end up going up and down like a yo-yo till you have to reset the game. These are all relatively minor issues and annoying but not game killing.
However a friend of mine is on her third game save because in the "Tom Riddles Diary" level in story mode the blokes that you need to jump across a section got trapped and failed to appear. The only thing you can do is exit the level, which then fails to appear on the notice board in the Leaky Cauldron and effectively is a game killing bug because there is no way to re-enter the level. Her third attempt was thankfully successful.
I have got to 98.3% completion only to find that an item that should spawn in the Hufflepuff common room didn't,(I'm sorry I'm trying to be vague enough to help people avoid the problem but not to spoil the game) and it was impossible for me to collect the final red box and character I needed to enter the final level and complete the game.
With my second game I got to 99.9% completion, only to find that if you do the final bonus level you can no longer re-enter Hogwarts to do anything you missed,(in my case collect 1 character) as when you try from the Leaky Cauldron you just respawn at the entry to Nocturne Alley.
I know these seem like nit-picking because I was so far into the game,(in this it is rather like almost completing a 10000 piece puzzle only to find a few bits missing) but the glitches that occurred in my game so late may affect other games much earlier.
In over 30 years of gaming I did something I have never done before and complained, to be fair I got a prompt reply from the department that deals with these issues that was polite and sympathetic, everything that customer support should be. Unfortunately as my version is on the Wii they have basically said that there is nothing they can do.
I've looked around different sites on the web after doing searches to see if anybody had found a solution and it seems that my friends and I are not the only people to be having various problems with the game.
