What he said.Altorin said:You can make a computer that can run pretty much anything that's out today or coming out this year on max settings for 1000-1200 dollars.. You don't need to spend 17000 dollars to futureproof your computer.. with proper use of upgrading your system, you can get a decade's worth of max settings for 4000-5000 dollars spread out over the course of 10 years... 17000 seems a ridiculous sum, and only really worth it to people who are so dense about their computers that they can't be bothered to even understand half of what a computer like that is capable of. There's no reason to spend so much money to futureproof your computer when computers are largely modular.
and a 360 is worth 300 bucks. So add 300 bucks to that, heck, add 900, we'll say that's a decade's worth of 360s.
So in total, that's about 7200 bucks for a decade of computing/console gaming hardware, So it's almost on par with the basic model of this computer. but that's spent over the course of 10 years, and the 7500 dollar model isn't much more "futureproof" then the model you could put together for 1200 bucks and maintain over the course of 10 years.
I know that building a PC is much cheaper than buying one, but you could not get those specs for 500 euros. You're talking at least $2000, and that's a PC with an i7 3.06GHz and a 500GB harddrive. Plus that's with 2 ATI 5870's, which offer less performance than 2 Nvidia GTX 480's.The Imp said:Sorry to burst your bubble, Logan, but your more than wrong on the i7 980X 4.3Ghz, 2 TB hdds, 6gb RAM. That, without graphics cards, will only cost around 500? and only last for about the next 2 years, tops. So, yeah, those PCs are, like Alienware or Dell, just for show off. Anybody with at least some knowledge can build a PC, minus the fucking console, for less than a quarter of the price and almost the same power under the hood.
It is ONLY a viable option if you really really love PC gaming, but hate gaming PCs.RatRace123 said:It's not that ridiculous, well OK, it is somewhat ridiculous.
It could still be good for... um, the kid of a fairly wealthy family who has an Xbox, but also wants to get into PC gaming.
OK, or maybe it could be good for someone who's never gotten a game system until now... yeah.
Seriously though, eh... it's a pretty good idea to increase sales, if nothing else. I don't see many people buying it though.
I spent a good 600 dollars building an above-average gaming rig. I then go onto the Espcapist and wouldn't you know it, GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK made this computer for $100. DAMMIT!icyneesan said:Oh hey guys, did you hear? Gary Oak invented a $100 super computer that has over 500 CPUs and over 9000 GB of RAM. It also comes with a infinite Hard-drive that never runs out of room!
